I have a question

Quote  |  Reply

Now im pretty confused, i was diagnosed with an ACL tear, i got my MRI and X ray back and i was told everything was fine, that I would go to therapy and should be better. ive been to therapy 3 times and  they are frustrated with my progress, as with that i cannot extend my knee, im always in constant pain and i have to limp. ive done exersises at home trying to get better. I have an appointment tomarrow at 1 but im afraid my doctor is going to be upset with me like the therapist. Im afraid he'll stop seeing me or not continue to help me. On top of it all my back pain has gotten far worse, considering after having my son 11 months ago i was being seen for my back nothing showed but i was getting pain releiving meds, but my insurance got cut so i had to stop seeing her. but after a while the back pain became mild but sometimes sever. Now its always hurting and everyone is acting like i shouldnt be. i hurt my knee may 15 and now its july 22 with close to no progress. anyone have any experience or advice with this?

why is it that you are worried your doctor will stop seeing you?

my dad had an ACL tear and he had to have surgery for it, and had to ice it a lot, so much that he had a special machine for it, and he had to wear a brace. he still limps a bit. why are your doctor and therapist upset with you? are you not following their instructions? are you sure you aren't just feelin a lot of anxiety which is causing you to think they are upset with you? and if they are actually upset with you for things beyond your control, is it possible for you to see a differfent doctor?

i'm sorry you're going through all this. what a headache.

Maybe you need a different physiotherapist. My better half is a physio and there can be quite a difference in approaches used. Also, be sure you do all of the exercises they give you as much as they instruct you (unless you're in too much pain).

did you have surgury for the tear or did they just say you are fine without surgury?

either way, it can take a while to regain full range of motion in the area.  it also makes a difference how in shape your muscles were before you tore your ACL.  the more in shape you are before, the quicker the recovery.  I have torn my ACL's three times (twice on the left knee and once on the right) and know this from experience.
