i know it not good to eat under 1200 calories a day.
but what if i'm not hungry anymore and i've only had 1093.
will my body see this as not having enough and hold onto the fat..?
Are you younger than 21? If so, you should be targeting 1500 calories at a minimum.
The main reason it isn't good to eat too few calories is because it is hard to get enough nutrition for a developing body if you don't eat enough calories of good, nutritious food. Try to add some calorie dense foods like peanut butter, lean meat (if you eat meat), dairy products, olive oil, dried fruits and nut throughout the day. They won't fill you up the way that vegetables alone will.
Try to lose weight in a sustainable fashion so that you can be healthy (both now and when you are older) as well as thin.
As a teen like dkenworthy says, you need a minimum if you're 5'0 and sedentary; more if you're not... That's to lose weight, not maintain.
Your body won't suddenly hold onto fat after one day of undereating, but yes, if you habitually undereat your metabolism can slow down, making it harder to both lose weight and maintain weight. Undereating also means you are more likely to burn muscle than fat, which isn't good!
If you are truly full on 1100 calories, it may be because undereating can actually cause appetite loss. When you eat more on a regular basis, your appetite will come back. A loss of appetite doesn't mean that your body is receiving adequate nutrition.
I suggest you read gi-jane's stickied thread on "1200 is the bare minimum, not the norm" at the top of the Weight Loss forum.
to answer your original question- if you aren't hungry, I wouldn't eat. period. (unless you have had an eating disorder where you no longer register hunger at all, etc)
However, 1100 calories isn't really a good target, so don't make it your target, just try to eat a little more tomorrow. If your target is 1400 and you didn't make it, you only ate 1100, then the next day, its okay to go up to 1700, or 3 days of 1500, etc. As long as it evens out, no one expects you to eat exactly 1400 calories every day.
i'm 18 and 5'6.
i've been on cc for three days and i've lost 2.2 lbs.
i started at 151 and now i weigh 148.8.
my limit on calories is 1350. so, i'm not starving myself or anything.
but thanks for all the advice.
with only 3 days down, I think its too early to decide whether this is sustainable for you or not. If you find yourself remarkably hungry at 1350, you should really consider upping your calorie count. I'm 21, I weigh 152 (as of this morning... woo!) I started off at 170, and I exercise quite a bit, but I eat 2000 calories a day and lose on that... my point is that at 152, my sedetary calories are about at 1800, and light activity is more like 2100. I'm better you should be more like 1600 for a deficit of 500 cal/day
So if you're not hungry... don't eat more because more than likely you will just not feel good or comfortable - just eat how much your body wants - everyone's calorie goal is different.

*BEEP* wrong answer.
If you are eating that few calories and you aren't hungry, that is a bad sign that your metabolism is already slowing down. You seriously need to ramp up your eating with some more caloric dense choices or you are going to find yourself in a nasty cycle of denying yourself and then bingeing.
i'm suprisingly not tempted to binge.
when i over eat, i feel bad about it, because i really want to loose weight. so that's not a problem for me.
i'm gonna soon start adding whey protein to my diet, will that help things out..?
um, she's been on CC for 3 days. Your metabolism DOESNT slow down after 3 days, it slows down after months and months, if you consistently eat under 1200.
Just make sure that per week, you are getting at least 1200x7 calories if you are worried about it

She hasn't specifically said she's only been dieting for 3 days, just on CC for three days.
As a teen the minimum recommended amount for weight loss is 1500 calories if you are sedentary, more if you are not.
You are undereating and need to eat more.
Try to eat more earlier in the day. And eat healty fats. If your just a few hundred away have some decaf coffee with some milk. Chai is yummy and can boost your intake (try the reduced sugar)
low calories once in a while (less then twice a month) won't hurt you but don't make it a habit. you do need 1500 for your body to become a women.
BTW you only need to lose 15lbs. So take it slow. Try to cycle your calories, it will halp you eat more normal with friends but keep you on track.
What you do is make sure you get 1500 x 7 = 10500 then divid it at different amounts over the week just make sure in the end it's 10500.
I agree that eating a big breakfast is a great way to get your necessary calories in if, like me, you don't get super hungry all the time. I'm always hungry in the mornings, so I take advantage of it and pack in a super protein-y, higher calorie meal.
Do you snack? If not add a few.
What is a typical day like for you? what are you eating? what do you like/dislike? What were you eating before?
i do snack, usually after breakfast. like granola bars, or grapes, or a banana.
then i eat lunch and try not to eat a snack after that because i go to work (i'm a nanny) and the family usually feed me there. and they're pretty big meals. we usually eat a lot of sea food which is all grilled like shrimp, salmon and catfish. and sometimes they have steak and other various foods.
i really don't like veggies.. but i wish i did, how can i get that without actually eating them..?
i only like raw carrots, pickles, and olives. :]
