I'm 16 years old, 5'5" and somewhere in the realm of 115-125 lbs. Back
in January, I took an interest in nutrition and started paying better
attention to what I ate. Since then, my average calorie intake in a
day has been a pretty consistant ~1500.
I'm relatively active. I'm into yoga and horseback riding (hunter/jumper, if that means anything to anyone), and I recently started running about three times a week. I'm trying to be smart about what I eat. I'm working on improving my overall muscle tone and decreasing body fat for athletic purposes--to be a better rider, mainly--but I'm pretty happy with the way I look.
I've never thought much about the number of calories I eat until recently; I just eat until I feel like I've eaten enough. I get As and Bs for nutrition most days. But from what I've read, I'm afraid I'm not eating enough and that's hindering any sort of progress. So is 1500 too little, and should I try to eat more?
(By the way, I'm not sure where this post belongs, but since it's a nutritional question, I'm putting it here. Hope that's alright, but feel free to move it if not. ^^)

Did you get your daily allowance figure from this site? It's only meant to be used for adults so you should google "Teenage daily calorie allowance calculators" or something to that sort to figure out what youre doing.
I'm also a horeseback rider(3day/Jumper) and training for a marathon, so make sure you consider yourself very active when you calculate your calories.
I would think you're in need of closer to 1800 at your age and activity level. Plus your weight is perfectly normal for your height, but google a "teenage BMI calculator" also if you want to make sure you're within the healthy range.
You seem to have a healthy attitude about all of this, and that's the most important thing for girls your age... go do your calculations if you haven't already and keep up the good work!

Thanks for your help. My ultimate goal is eventing, actually, so props to you for having the guts for it!
After a little bit more research I think I definitely should be eating more than 1500 (guess I'll just make popcorn after dinner or something).
