I have a question

Quote  |  Reply

Hi. I am new to the site and am loving it so far...
But I have a quick question
I was just curious to know why my Burn Meter read 906 this morning when I hadn't added in any activities yet today?!?
This is probably a pretty silly question... but does anyone know the answer?

Hello and welcome! :)

Your body burns calories just by being alive.  Calories are burned to keep your heart beating, lungs breathing, all other organs functioning, etc.  In other words, even if you did nothing but lay in bed and sleep all day, you would still be burning calories.  The burn meter takes this into account.  So by now, you should be up over 1000 calories burned, even if you didn't exercise or anything.  :)

Edited to add:  The burn meter resets each night at midnight (I believe.)  So the number will get higher as the day progresses, then go back to zero at midnight and start over again.

Thanks justlaura. I really appreciate you responding so quickly!
So how long have you been a member at this site?

You're welcome!  :)  I've been here just over a year now.
