question for grey's anatomy fans

I don't see the show often but I watched the premiere and was wondering

1) what is the deal with Alex and Izzie? why did he start acting like an a-hole?

2) who was the guy at the end that Izzie is with? I got the impression it's someone who died?

1. for whatever reason, alex is threatened by the idea that he might be a decent guy.  maybe because he knows he's in love with izzy but doesn't think he's good enough; maybe because he knows he can't live up to the ideal of denny (see 2).

2. the guy izzy was with was denny.  he was a dying patient she fell in love with (season 2?).  kind-of a perfect unattainable man.  she did all kinds of dumb things trying to keep him alive, including (i don't remember the details) an unauthorized treatment that killed him.  but he was gonna die anyway (kidney failure?  i can't remember).  she ended up on severe restriction because of it - allowed to observe only, not to talk to or touch a patient. 

She cut Denny's LVAT wire (Denny was having heart complications).

:( I miss Denny... I loved him!

I thought the army guy was hilarious! Christina needs a new man in her life!

p.s. what was the thing about when Alex says 'did she say I cried?' - also wondering are they roommates or something? how does Izzie feel about him? (she looked a bit unhappy to say the least seeing him making out with that woman)

I'm pretty sure alex was referring to last season when he was crying because of rebecca/ ava.  She was a past patient/girlfriend of his who thought she was carrying his child and then when she found out she was never pregnant and went into severe depression and cut her wrists.  I think he just started being an a-hole because he always has a tough guy exterior and when people heard about him being nice he just needed to show his "manliness" again

Yeah, Alex is an on-and-off A-hole for sure, for the reasons mentioned by others.

I gotta say though, I'm really getting sick of Meredith's back-and-forth re: Derek.  Make up your **** mind!  The way they ended last season, she wanted a home and kids with him.  Now she's all on the fence about even moving in together.  That whole saga is going to kill the series for me, I know it.

I really liked the army guy too!

Alex apparently has had a tough life.. had to "take care" of his severely depressed mother at a young age... he wants to control everything because he had no control in the past.. he is still an ass though! 

Meredith makes me crazy.  I want her to act normal, but I guess she did not have a normal life either.

Izzy won't have a real relationship until she is able to let Denny go.  (I loved Denny!)

Army Guy is just what the doctor ordered for Christina (jeeze that was a bad pun) I hope he sticks around... she needs a guy like him!

I want George to pass the intern test already! It was such a shock when he didn't!

I'm with ya on Meredith!  Sure, we've all had the same issues about relationships, but crap or get off the pot already.  It's gone on long enough for my tastes.

#5 - Alex lives in Meredith's house, as does Izzy.  (George lives with Lexie, and at least last season, Christina lives with Callie). Izzy likes Alex, had a brief thing with him, he cheated on her with a nurse (he was having trouble performing with Izzy), then after Rebecca/Ava left, he cried, they slept together. And in general, acts like a jerk when people say he's being nice. Oh, and was the woman he was with Rose?

About the army guy - if you liked him and want to see more of him, rent or netflix Rome (the HBO show - which means you get to see a bunch more of him, at least more than you'll see on network tv) - the actor played one of the main characters. There are some slow parts, and lots of characters and names to keep straight, but, like most HBO shows, it's very impressive.

Rose is the OR nurse that Derek slept with.  The nurse that Alex was caught with was the little red headed nurse that George was interested in.

What's up with Callie and Hunn?  Are they really going to go there?  ER tried the lesbian relationships with Dr. Carrie Weaver.

As far as Christine and Officier Hunt (army guy):  Chief offered Hunt a position at the hosital but said that he needed to finish his tour of duty.  Since Christine isn't feeling "Challanged", are they going to have her "volunteer" at a medic unit in Afganistan (or where ever Hunt was stationed)?  Then Hunt realize that it was love at first sight and gets transfered back to the states.  And for the whole season you see Christine and Hunt coming close to meeting up - but yet keep missing each other.  Then at the end of the season, they see each other at the airport somewhere in Kansas with a layover because of an approaching tornado.  They work together to triage the victims.........  Some imagination, hey?

 I know that - but the girl that Alex was kissing at the end of the last episode - it looked like it might be Rose.

OOHHHH.  I didn't pay that much attention to the dark headed girl that he was with.  You may be right. 

I didn't even notice her either.  I didn't even think about it being anyone - I thought it was just a random girl.  Hmmm... its not on this Thursday, right?

 He was mad at Izzie which was a dramatic misunderstanding. Izzie was telling Meredith how Alex was good that he'd changed ect or something positive like so. Then later when Alex and Meredith were talking he said something nice/mature or whatever ect... and she was like " Izzie was right. " and he was pissed. Cuhz, he thought Izzie had told Meredith about him crying to her when he broke down. >_< It hurt his man pride to think she'd told someone he'd cried. He cried because of the situation post #6 mentioned. She had talked to Meredith about Alex though.

 It's humorous that nobody seem to pay attention to the face of whatever Alex sleeps with...  Lol! He's known player though he doesn't even remember who he's slept with! Poor Lexie. He was filing out the paperwork when the hospital made everyone write down exactly who they'd had sexual relations with in the hospital. He didn't put Lexie and George was like " Ahem... -looks at Lexie then back to Alex- " and he was like " ooooH! -takes back form and adds her to it.- THERE! " It was.... just sad.

Lexie was all like " He forgot?! >_> omg...<_<"

Nah. The debate took it's slot but it's on this week on Thursday.

The interns are new but they don't hold my attention.  They are there only because the new school year started.  Except for Lexie.  Originally she was there to provide tension for Meredith.  Now she is an admirer of George.
