Question for the ladies
Hey all-
I was just wondering if anyone gains weight before TOM? I am up 6 pounds! I am hoping this is what it is because it should be here any day now. Otherwise, i have no idea what is going on.
I'm up four pounds, and am craving lots and lots of chocolate.
I think we'll be okay, give it a few days. Eat healthy, drink water, and wait a while.
Yep, right before...and I hold on to it during...it sucks!

I usually gain around 2 pounds up to a week before that time. Then I usually go down around 2-3 pounds (depending on how well I resist those cravings) either the day before I start, the day I start, or the day after I start.
Don't freak out! :-D
It's normal and everything will be ok. Now have a little comfort food and some Midol and it will be over soon. =)
Ugh I'm in the same boat right now too. I'm up like 4 pounds and I feel horrible about. Hopefully it'll pass and I won't feel so bad in the next couple of days.
Well, a few days before TOM is when your body is storing up a lot of extra fluid and building up that lovely thick layer of uterine wall that sloughs off the following week. Most women do gain some pounds before their period and keep it, then at the end of their period they lose it again.
I have been counting calories and tracking my weight for four months, and thus far the pattern is consistent: Stop losing at all for a week starting a few days before my period. On the Friday of my period (which typically ends on Saturday), I suddenly drop a bunch of pounds. It's very odd, but it's consistent to the day, and TOM is the only real explanation for it. In fact, on that Friday, I lose so much that I am forced to assume most of it is water, but the rest is real. It's a nice thought.
Yup. S'quite normal. I just started yesterday. And I'd been fluctuating up and down a few pounds the week before and the day before I was up 3 pounds or so. Don't worry. Afterwards, you ought to at least be back to where you were before, maybe even lower!
I start with the PMMies-PreMenstrual Munchies
- about 3 days before accompanied by my A cup breasts feeling as if (not looking, unfortunately) like they are size C's, and then typically waking up the day before or of my TOM looking like a giant Puff Fish w/ about 3-4 unexplained poundage. Go figure.
Lots of water, fruits and veggies (watermelon, cantaloupe, cucumber, etc.)!!
Yep, I'll gain like 5lbs. Don't worry, by the last day it should be gone!
