question - i need an accurate scale!
Good luck.
Still, the first measurement is always very close to my old cheap dial kind.... so I'm going to stick with it for a long time, unless it starts to drive me batty or something (then I'll return it to walmart since I still have the receipt, and pay the bigger $$$ for the weightwatchers one or another one).
I think the thing to look for in a scale is precision. Those that only give 1/2 pound precision are not as good as those that give .2 or .1 pound precision. Also for the cheap ones go Taylor above the other brands. The other ones are a lot less precise IMO.
Oh and for dial scales... the ones where you can see the whole dial are better than those that you can only see a portion of the dial. Usually they cost about $5 or so more as well.
water-weight.
have you ever weighed yourself, then taken a shower and dried off, and all of a sudden you are 1.5lbs lighter? (no clothes both times). water weight. eating, not eating, how much you drink, exercise, etc. can all be a factor. changing in 5 min is a bit much, but don't forget that the scale will give you different readings throughout the day.
it's like height - you're taller in the morning than you are at night, because your spine compresses. we are fickle creatures, we humans are...
Scales suck period.I weighed my self with my old cheap scale(lol) and it said I lost two punds. Then I thought aww I should get a new one just in case this one is wrong and maybe I lost even more weight!Well i got a health o meter one and it said I weighed two pounds more. hmmm should I believe my old scale or new scale? So fustrating.
I have a health-o-meter best scale I have ever owned. You can move it all over the room and still get the same weight. Its digital. I showed body fat too. I think it was like $40. I have never got a wrong reading. It does help alot to know for sure that the scale is correct.
I bought a health o meter at wal-mart it goes up to 350lbs it is digital. It cost about 36.00 my husband and I both use it and it is on for both of us. The first one we got was a taylor and it was different ever time we got on because we always check the weight twice, can't help it. Good luck Deana
I have a Weight Watchers scale that I ordered from Walmart. It is very repeatable for weights but it also has the body fat & water percentages. Those are pretty weird so I just don't use them anymore. We have a doc's type balance at work and it seems to agree with mine at home. I think it was about $30 so if they have the same model without the BF% it might be as good but less $$.
