question about night eating!
does anyone else have the problem where they restrict during the day out of comfort, and then know they need to eat the remainign calories, and eat most of them at night, feel extremely bloated and stuffed and even a little nauseous, and then wake up and feel tempted to restrict during the day again, and even tmepted to exercise, and then eat the calories at night...and notice that cycle? i'm sure im not the first person to experience this...i'm trying to eat more balanced/bigger breakfasts and lunches and bigger snacks during the day.
but i do find i'm often VERY hungry at night (not just from not eating enough in the day) but because i have rehearsals for shows till late, and come home and am very hungry. i really don't like going to bed on a totally stuffed stomach bc then i know what happens the next morning (bad impulses!!!) any suggestions for good late night snacks? (note: i have IBS and acid reflux, so some very high fat foods are hard for me to digest.)
but after eating a big dinner/then dessert/then a snack i noticed my heart rate go up significantly too...i guess this is all normal? yesterday was the first time i ate above the 2000 mark...so my body may be in shock...but i guess it's all a good thing.

I am notorius for doing this. I restrict before dinner (usually 5pm ish), only getting up to around 1000 calories (for fear of what, I dont know). Then between 5 and 8 (i dont eat after 8...still scared of late night eating), I'm forced to consumed over 1000 calories. It's a really tough habit to break :(
The onyl days it works out better for me is when I'm at school and work all day and I'm forced to pack my food. I usually pack about 6-7 smaller meals/snacks and spread them out throughout the day. It's literally the ONLY time it all balances out for me.
As for late night snacks - I know you can't have very high fat foods, but how about nuts/nut butters? I find myself consuming almond butter by the cupful somedays, just to get my calories up.

wow im not going to lie i had this same exact problem until about 2 days ago. and i had is BAD. i would only eat like 500 calories during the day then after eleven pm, random time i know. i would eat 1500 calories until i fell asleep. i would wake up in the morning still SO full it would start the whole cycle over again bc i wouldnt be hungry. but 2 days ago i started work where basically if i didnt eat like 300 calories for breakfast then lunch i would DIEEE. it has been SO weird these 2 days not gonna lie...but its really nice to have energy during the day. i suggest that you start spreading them out! just eat like 300 calories for breakfast then go shopping or something so your not thinking about eating the rest of the day! you wont be super hungry at night either i promise. i dont remember the last time i actually felt hunger. but that was always my fear.... just do it girl.
I had this issue in the past but not now. It was a hard change but in the long run made my mind and body feel better. It is common among many ed people to do this but I think it keeps your mind trapped in ed in many ways. Your body needs adequate fuel during the day when you are most active and also helps with hunger cues and proper digestion along with metabolism to eat more regualr. Can you establish a meal plan and stick to it? 2000 is not enough for weight gain even sedentary. So can you start increasing but put the calories through the day?
Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?
