Question About Nut Butters
So, I got some delicious cashew butter--the natural kind, so the oil separates before you stir it. I prefer my cashew butter thick and chunky, so I poured some of the oil out (most of it, actually). So, how does this affect the calorie/fat content of the butter?
It lessens the caloric content a great deal.
Lets say there are 32 2-TBS servings per jar. And you've poured out 1/3 cup oil.
That means 200 calories (estimate) times 32 in a jar = 6400 calories per jar (pre-pour)
1/3 cup oil = 660 calories.
6400 - 660 = 5,740 calories per jar.
Divided into 32 servings = 178 calories per 2TBS. Since oil is all fat, its safe to say you've lost about 3G fat per 2TBS serving.
Wow, thanks a lot rebel! Oh well, I don't mind eating an extra teaspoon to get all the calories. c:
If you actually like it without the oil - I did that the first time I bought a jar of almond butter and really regretted it. I thought it lost a lot of the goodness without the oil.
i like pouring the oil out and replacing i with evoo instead. i like the taste better.
u need some oil in there because it will get really hard, and u will not be able to spread it on bread and stuff

AHHHHHH!!! THANKS for 'splainin' that to me! Interestingly, though I couldn't remember the "spelling", as I was falling asleep last night, "olive oil" popped into my head!
And it turns out that, apparently, my subconscious was RIGHT! LOL! Thanks again for your reply.
