I saw the calories in pizza with cheese and it's actually not that high. Just 140. But I was wondering how is that possible if it's so greesy and has 1.5g of satuated fat.
Is it okay to eat pizza once in awhile or should I avoid it? I thought these things would be morefattening then that.

it's always okay to eat something that isn't that great for your body once in a while. it's not good for yourself psychologically to deny yourself food you enjoy because in the end there is the possiblility that you could feel so deprived that you end up binging on it.
Anytime I'm craving pizza (more often than not) I make my own and it's so much better than ordering out.
I buy a Kabuli Whole Wheat, brush it with olive oil, throw a bunch of oregano on there, and then pile on my favorite pasta sauce. Then I top it with cut up boca sausage patties, baby spinach, red onion, and grilled peppers. I put cheese on half for my boyfriend and usually leave it off of my half. Yummm.

something else to keep in mind is that the 140cal is for a specific size PIECE of pizza. usually very small. I like sassathon's suggestion. then you are in control and will probably have a bigger peice for less calories with more of your favorite items on it.
PS.. pizza and mexican food is my worst!!! I love them soooo much! all that cheese ooozzzziiiinngg everywhere YUM. so I have to be very careful. :)

I'm a make-your-own-pizza kind of gal. I get whole wheat pitas, top them with pesto or marinara, lots of mushrooms, a little romano or parmesan (full-flavored cheese means I can use less) and bake at 375 till crispy.
I always worry that the person making the pizza has been heavy-handed with the toppings and there are more cals than what it's suppose to be... :$

Knowing from experience as a pizza cook, most chain pizza places have a specific ammount that shoud be put on the pizza. It's usually weighed unless you during dinner rush on a friday night. Then nobody cares about weighing stuff. Usually there is 3 oz of cheese on a 10 inch round, toppings are usually measured in one or two ounce increments. Pepperoni- you may want to count how many are on your slice then add that up. As for the grease, that usually comes from a combination of the crust and meat toppings. The crusts are pressed with oil to make them eaiser to press into the beloved round shape. Some of that will seep out during cooking. Also watch out for white sauces. They are loaded with calories, fat and perservatives.
i like making my own whole wheat pita pizzas. i love to use tomato slices that i salt, pepper, and season with italian seasoning instead of a sauce, then i put on some skim milk mozz and some sundried tomatos (i call them the bacon of veggies since they are so full of flavor.)
teddybeartas -- my favorite is to mix pizza and mexican (but make it at home)! i use a whole wheat pita or a tortilla, and bake it for a few minutes to get it a little crispy. then i spread on refried beans, a little salsa, and 2% cheese. i'll bake that till the cheese melts, and then top it with lettuce, a little sour cream, olives, tomato, whatever i feel like, basically...and voila! a low cal, healthy, mexican pizza! YUM-O

The generic amounts are very different from the amounts listed by several of our local chains. Part of the problem is serving size. Papa John's, as an example, has a serving size of one slice but lists the weight as twice the amount of the generic one (using CalorieCount's amounts).
Many of pizza's calories are from the bread, unless there's tons of cheese on it or it's a very thin crust. And a gram of fat, in oil form, can look like quite a bit when it's warm, runny, and spread thinly on the surface.
If I want pizza for dinner or lunch, I just budget my calories accordingly. I wouldn't recommend doing it often, but it can certainly be a nice treat if the craving strikes (I've found that if I ban myself from something like pizza or chocolate, I only want it more)!

We ordered Papa John's the other day (my husband's fav.) I did this as a treat to my family. For being so great about eating all the stir frys and fruit salads lately. But I couldn't bring myself to go all the way. I ordered thin crust cheese, no toppings. Later, when I logged it in I was a little upset. I could have gone all out and gotten the Supreme Veggie pizza for a C- rating. I got a D rating for the thin crust, no topping (or D- I don't remember).
Plus it wasn't worth the splurge. The thin crust plain pizza didn't fill me up. I had two slices (which is what normally fills me whenI'm not dieting) and even ate a salad before the pizza!
p.s. My husband says that pizza is the perfect food. It covers most of the food groups and tast great!

I eat pizza once a week, homemaid crust and sauce. Mine (yes I eat a whole pizza and don't go off my diet) is about 950 calories. My wife would have left me if I banned pizza, I'm pretty sure.
An entire Jack's frozen pizza is like 1100 calories. I typically buy the Jack's Supreme. Its not the best food in the world to be eating, but there are certainly worse!!!
Today we went to pizza hut. My fiance wanted pepperoni and stuffed
crust. I was not eating that! It's 390 calories for one slice of
that large pizza!
I ordered my own medium thin and delicious pizza that they make now. They make it thin crust with 1/2 the cheese and 2 times the sauce. And you have the healthy ingredients to choose from. Each slice of that pizza is 150 calories! I felt good and it was really really good!!! I would for sure get it again! Now, it's left over in my fridge for dinner and lunch for the next couple of days!
