Regarding the chickpeas: Do you think they mean dried raw chickpeas or canned?

They mean dried raw ones, because the canned kind are already cooked. But if you want to use canned ones instead, just skip the soaking and boiling them and throw them in the blender straight from the can. I would drain them and use a bit of water if you need some liquid where it calls for the cooking liquid.

And one cup dried would be more at the end, so I would use a whole can, not a measured cup, because they expand when soaked and cooked.

So exactly how much does 1 cup dried yield when cooked? (I'm pretty anal retentive when it comes to recipes so I'd like to get as close as possible.)
1oz dried chickpeas will make 2 - 2.5oz when cooked.  So 1 cup would yield 2 - 2.5 cups cooked.
Thanks.
