Question about sleeping pills

Quote  |  Reply

Is it safe to take sleeping pills on a regular basis?  I'm a really light sleeper & everything will wake me up.....a toilet being flushed, water running in the kitchen sink, a truck going by, my 2nd floor neighbor getting up at 3:30 to go to work, the birds chirping outside my window in the morning, and the list goes on.  I've tried drinking hot tea, reading in bed, turning off all the digital clocks so I can't see any light, putting cotton balls in my ears to muffle all sounds, and nothing has worked.  So, last week I started taking 'Simply Sleep' by the makers of Tylenol PM and it works!!!  I get drowsy, my mind & body relaxes, sleep the entire night through and wake up well-rested & refreshed.

What do you all think?  (sorry, I didn't know where to post this question...)

I don't take them on a regular basis, but I had the same problem so my doctor gave me Lunesta because it is not dependent. It also gives you exactly eight hours of sleep and then you are wide awake to take on the day. I know that whenever I use to take the simply sleep stuff I was always tired the next day...

Just a thought!

I took Advil PM for the same reasons and found myself jittery the next day.  Definately talk to your doctor, now I occasionally take ambien and it really works well.  I feel great the next day.

the hormone that causes you to fall asleep is melatonin

i thak melatonin tablets every night...basically once taken, the hormone is in your system within 30mins and you fall asleep naturally and wake when your body is ready!!

i really dont know what id do without them...theyre great!
has it ben suggested by a doc???

not really a great idea. taking them regularly is like laxitives....they warp your body's own regulation and circadium rhythmn. you become tolerent and require more and more to have the same effect

so not recommended
