probably not.  tableware varies in size; yours might be accurate, but it's doubtful.  get yourself some measuring cups and spoons.  they're cheap.

noooooooo. Two totally different things. Definitely invest in a set of measuring spoons.

I actually took a tablespoon and a teaspoon and measured mine a while back with both of our silverware sets.  The teaspoon was dead on for one but not the other, and the tablespoon was way off on both.

a meausring set tablespoon is A LOT bigger than a tablespoon you eat off. I agree, invest in some measuring spoons. They are nice and cheap! :)

Wow. I am so glad that you asked this question because I just assumed that they were. Im definently going to go and buy measuring spoons now.

What you a calling a "tablespoon2 in your kitchen is most likely a "dessert spoon" which is 0.5 of a tablespoon.

lol, i thought a tblspn in the kitchen would be a real tbspn?? its less? thats nuts?!

are u sayin my little plastic tablespoons that says 1 tblsp is more than a tablespoon??

No, I think they're saying that the utensils we call tablespoons are actually smaller than a measuring tablespoon. So if you (and me) are using the utensil, we are overestimating our intake.

I'm saying that this "tablespoon" is NOT the same as the "tablespoon" in this set.

We call the silver one a tablespoon, but that's not because it's an accurate unit of measurement. That's just what we call it.

I agree, they're not the same, and yes, they are cheap to buy.  I bought 2 sets of measuring spoons and cups for $1.00 at the Dollar Store.  I keep some of those extra utensils in the packages that I intend to use them for daily.  Oatmeal gets a 1/2 cup measuring cup.  It's always there and I don't have to dig for the right one in the morning when I'm not quite awake.  Valueable tools to have for the $1.00 investment, in my case $2.00 because I bought 2 sets.
