Question about Sugar-free FF JELL-O pudding mix?!?!?

Quote  |  Reply
Whew, that's quite a title...

Anyway, it says make it with skim milk, which I am lacking.

Now, for the weird question...

Can one make JELL-O pudding with water?

Would it set? I just want the tast, it doesnt have to be creamy or anything, just jell-oy.

Thanks a bunch!

I've never tried it with only water, but have done half water and half 2% milk and it worked out good...

I was wondering the same thing so ill just bump this thread instead of asking the same question...: )

I've tried it. While still tasty, it wasn't satisfying at ALL, which sadly suprised me. It simply made me want more... and more.. Ahaha. =P

It also apparently doesn't work with almond milk either. Only soy or regular

http://ask.metafilter.com/35585/The-Science-o f-Instant-Pudding apparently its a protein in the milk that makes it thicken, hence why water, soy or almond milk won't thicken like milk does.

as a side note, once i made some of the non-instant kind without letting it boil all the way and it never really set up- it was very disappointing, more like chocolate soup.

I tried to make it according to pckg instructions with almond milk & it didn't set, but at the suggestion of another cc'r I added just enough almondmilk to make it thick & then added small incriments to that until it got the consistancy I wanted.

So yeah, it will probably work, but you need to cut the ratio in half, at least.
