So I'm currently 5' 8" and 244 (I started at 261).  I'm looking to lose down to around 160 by this time next year.  What I was wondering is around how many calories should I be eating per day?  I guess I could be catagorized as sedentary, although I do work as a waitress which can be rather demanding.  At the moment I'm working at eating 1500-1600cal per day.

Would you say my weightloss goal is feasible?

You might be able to reach your goal in a year (52 weeks at 1.5lb/week would be about 75lbs). But remember that as you get closer to your goal, you might not be able to lose that fast.

Try plugging your stats into www.phord.com/cc, and remember that as a waitress, you are far from sedentary.

Well...I would say that at this stage you are definitely not eating enough. You should aim for 1000 calorie deficit max. Someone with your stats could easily maintain on 2500 without exercising much. So if you're working out I would assume you burn around 3000 calories. So aim for around 2000 and adjust as you lose weight.

Being that 2 pounds is the max recommended to lose and you have about 100 pounds to lose that's 96 pounds after 1 year. That would be in a perfect world with no plateaus, which is unlikely. I think 60-75 pounds is more reasonable and realistic because life happens and things don't always turn out the way we would have them if given the choice.

Be careful about cutting your cals too low initially because you'll plateau and not have much room for further calorie adjustments and you can lose on much more than 1600. I hope this helps. Congrats on the loss so far!!

If you just go to the top of the page and click on "Tools"  then click on "calorie target"  follow the directions and it will tell you how many calories you can eat to reach your goal and approximately when.

Well, I don't workout any at the moment.  I mean I am pretty active when I'm at work, but that's only three to four days a week.  Over the last couple of days I've been eating between 1500-1800 per day, and feel fine.
