question to get warmth -- please help! brrrr

Quote  |  Reply

Hello! Im new here and am not sure where this should be posted! I am currently in recovery for an eating disorder where my weight got very low, and i have very little body fat. And though i am in recovery and slowly gaining weight, I still have very little body fat, and winter is now coming (I live in the east so it is pretty much here!) and I find it almost impossible to stay, or even get, warm. I am always in multiple layers of clothing, even sweatpants but still cold. I have heard of "tinier" people who wear sort of legging/thermals under their pants and shirts. I would like to get some of these but dont want to waste my money. I want to get the best ones that I should. Does anyone have any recommendations on a brand or something?

Thank you, and here's to being healthy everybody!! I am looking forward to next winter when I won't need to ask things like this Laughing

Thanks--

Julie

I have thermal tights for running and they keep my legs super warm even in the middle of January, so it's expensive but probably a good investment to get thermal gear.  Go to a running store and get winter workout gear for outdoors and layer under your normal clothes.  Try and stay warm.

Hopefully you get some fat on you soon!  Best of luck!

Edit:  My running tights are made by CW-X and they kick ass.  I also have a top by Under Armour and a sweater by Avia, I wore all three for a run this morning and it was -10C...I think that's about 15F...and I was HOT.

YAYZ! im recovered so next winter is going to be interesting!!!

i used to wear skivvy, shirt, blouse, jumper, blazer, tights, long skirt, 3 pairs of socks, gloves, scarves (school uniform) on 18 degrees C which is a little under warm but generally not that cold for most and i was FREEZING! i feared the wind. i was never satisfied unless in front of a reallllly warm heater, seriously.

thermal stuff is good, tight things, i had what i call a 'marshmallow' jacket or weekends, thick kind of thing, even then i was cold.

just today...IM BACK TO DOING SPORTS YAY, GOT A TOUCH DOWN IN FOOTBALL!!!....i had sports pants and short-sleeved top ONLY at like 16-17C and was warming OTHER people up!!

you can't do much, just look foward to a better quality of life :)

I remember buying those thermals at Kmart a long time ago and I still wear them. You can probably find them at Walmart or whatever department store or hunting store is near you. I used to wear them under my jeans when I worked in a warehouse in the winter and I wear them at night. They are meant to be worn as a layer so you need to put something over them.

We used to call them Long Johns but I'm not sure why.

Try Goodwill or Salvation Army or any thrift store......yeah, there used but you won't find them cheaper anywhere else and once you wash them they're yours. I used to live in West Palm Beach, Fla. and Palm Beach had the coolest thrift stores, sometimes you'd find things with tags still on them!
