Question about weights
I started weight lifting about a month ago. Initially I lost 4 pounds. Then i gained 6. I knew that I would gain weight with the weights initially because of the muscle gain, but I have been stuck at 130 for 3 weeks now and won't budge. I do 30 minutes on the ellipitical every morning and I do weights 4 days a week alternating lower body and upper body. I am happy that I am getting stronger and able to do more weight now than I could when I started a month ago, but the scale is not budging. I was wondering how long it takes for your body to adjust and start losing agian. I am back up to 130 which means I am 15 pounds from my goal of 115. I am 5'2 and I eat between 1400 and 1700 calories a day. Help me!
Thanks!

When you are on the eliptical do you just go flat out? You should try high intensity interval training.

When i hit my plateau i started mountain biking and it kicked me over the edge because it is a form of hiit. When you find yourself not changing...push and push hard...take it to the next level and see what you are really made of.
I did that for a while, I can't remember now why I stopped... Now when I am on the elliptical, I start at intensity 6 and move up to 8 or 9 depending on how I feel, it only goes up to 10. Maybe tomorrow, I will start Hiit again.
It took my body five months to get in the swing.... i gained eight pounds when i started weight lifitng.... i just kep pushing.... the scale is finally moving downward..... down the eight pound gain plus four more pounds...... If nothing else i would increase my cardio.... from 30mins to an hour..... and i would try doing 15min increments on different cardio machines.....
Hi I totally know what you are going thru, my friends tried to help by telling me that muscle weighs more than fat but when you are trying to loss weight we all watch the scale for changes going down in pounds is what you want. I have another way of looking at it what weight more a pound of brick or a pound of feathers. You will notice that your clothes will fit better an physically you will feel better. Be like me i want to be a brick not a feather. Take care keep hope alive
