Question for Women: Delayed Period?

Quote  |  Reply

Hi everyone,

I started this weightloss journey last January 2008 and so far have lost 16lbs. So it's more like a steady 1lb-1.5lb a week weightloss. I didn't have any problems with my period until this month. It's always spot on: 28 - 29day cycle. I'm now 1week delayed. I don't think I'm pregnant (though I haven't tested yet, I think it's too early to do so). The only different/weird thing the past month was that I had a 2-week plateau and when I broke it, I lost 3lbs. That was it.

I'm not stressed (I don't think so, anyway!) so I think I can rule that out.

Do any of you have experienced a delay in their period while dieting healthily?

Hey there,

I've also lost about 15-20 pounds since January and my period has been very irregular as well. I usually have a 30-31 day cycle but I seem to have skipped an entire month and am still waiting--it's been at least 5 weeks now. I've been eating super healthfully as well and am getting at least 15-20% calories from fat and 25% ish from protein, so I'm not sure what is to blame. I'm always a bit stressed but it hasn't prevented my period from coming in the past! (and there is no possibility that I'm pregnant ;)

I'm not underweight now, either; I'm 5'6" and holding at 128. Very ready for that time of month...
