Question for the women
I was wondering if this happens to anyone else...
First off I want to say that I weight myself once a week under the same conditions (in the morning, nude after going to the bathroom), problem is that I always way 1 to 2 lbs less on the week of my period than as soon as it over the weight comes back. I find this strange because most women (I think) would weight more at that time of the month, not less. I'm so confused about this, I've noticed this happening for the past year, ever since I started trying to lose weight.
Now that's something I've never heard of before. I usually gain a few pounds during my period, which happens to most women. Sorry.
Like right now I am avoiding that scale.. bad scale you stays away from me this week O_O!
I know it will be like 4 lbs more no matter what I do as far as sodium and water intake =/
I actually have noticed a similar pattern. About 2-3 days before my period I'll mysteriously lose 1-2 pounds, but then when my period starts I'll go up maybe 2-4 pounds, which are gone within a week.
Well I'm glad i'm not alone in this. I just don't understand why I weight less during my TOTM this past month I've monitored it more closely weighing myself the day before I started, during and the day after and I was 174 before, 172 during and now 175 all the progress that i've made I loss in a matter of days (and no i didn't over eat during my TOTM). I would understand if it was the other way around but this just boggles me. I'll just have to be extra good this week and see what happens.
Do you continue to drink as much-- if not more water-- during that week, or do you use some of your fluids for a caffeine boost (diet coke, coffee, etc) to get over the inavoidable feelings of yuckiness? The only think that I could think of is that you may be getting a get dehydrated during this time, so your weight appears artificially low. This would also explain why the day after you are a pound more than before because your body could be saying "Uh, oh, let's not let that happen again!" and is trying to retain a bit more water until it gets rehydrated. That's all I got... I am personally one who won't go anywhere near thescale during my TOTM. :)

I eat and drink as I would any other day, and I try to stay away from too much sodium (as always).
I show about a 3 lb gain in the days leading up to ttom and then about 1-2 days into it, am down at least 3 and often 4. Pretty predictable for me.
Do you find yourself turning to caffeine more around that time? Maybe you are dehydrating yourself a bit then getting back on the water after?!
I know if I have one more glass of tea I'll "lose" weight then the next day hello! There it is.

I'm already a bib coffee drinker (I know I should cut back..I'm trying) but I don't drink more during my TOTM, that's why this is so confusing to me.
I always weigh less during my period too, and i've never understood why..I guess all people just react differently. I weigh the most the week before my period though, I think it's because my body holds water in at that time. I don't think it's strange though.
I'm a daily weigher and yep, about the second day into my period, even sometimes the third or forth, I lose a couple pounds. Usually put them back on when it starts to get lighter. I always thought it was weird too!
I'm the exact same as you cmarchand28. I get bloated before my period, usually the week before, and then when that time comes around I'm right back down, or a little less than normal. All women have different bodies, be lucky you have a lower weight during that time! It could be so much worse.
I still don't really understand it, but I'm happy to hear that it's not just me!
I know that during my TTOM last month I dieted hard for a straight week previously and gained 10 lbs of water weight- needless to say, i was devastated and sort of derailed my diet.. i'm on it right now, and started a couple a days ago- i've been ignoring it this time around, i heard its good to exercise during your period, so i've started up my exercise routine today, and continue to do so, and hopefully it will go away faster :-)
