a question for women about the pill and "time of the month" and ed's
heya,
so im currently recovering from an ed and i havent had my period in 3 years now ( im 18) and my doc is tryin to get me to go on the pill to get it back. shes worried about my bones not gettin eostrogen and so am i....but i dont wanna go on it as i want to get it back naturally so i know my bodys back to normal....im still at a very low weight and am restoring my weight slowly do itll probs be a while till i get it back.......shud i go on the pill or wait for my body till its ready?
my nutritionist who specializes in eds says its not a great idea to go on it cause then u dont really know where your bodys at and it doesnt improve fertility ( i really wanna b a mum when im older which is a motivation for me gettin better).
has anyone been in the same position and gone on the pill/not gone on it? any adivice/suggestions/comments greatly apreciated...im jus very torn on what to do.
oh and ive heard of all the horrible side affects of the pill and really dont wanna experience ANY of them!!! so thats definetly putting me off it.
i appreciate anyones input, thanks ladies!!
You should talk to your doctor. They're the people who have devoted many years of their life training in medicine and they generally have your best interests at heart when it comes to your health. I think it's pretty unprofessional of your nutritionist not to support your doctor's advice, if I'm honest. I can say from personal experience that being on the pill doesn't decrease fertility whatsoever and I haven't had any 'horrible side-effects'. The prospect of being bent double with osteoporosis in your thirties must surely offset any risks..
So talk to your doctor about all your fears and worries and give them the opportunity to put your mind at rest with the facts.
honestly?....its not until you heal yourself completely that you will start seeing changes and progress in your body. Right now you're holding yourself back form gaining weight...a weight that not only is beneficial for your menstrual cycle but for your overall health...meaning it affects even how you think. Trust me...right now Im eating more than before and have gained weight that I was so afraid to have on me..and I feel like I think more like a "normal" person...Im less concerned about weight gain, and Im wanting to go back to my pre ED weight BADLY and be that girl again.
Trust me..its hard to gain weight at first...but once you do things get A LOT clearer.
I dont like the pill either, but if you've been that long without your period (meaning you have kept that low eight for too long) its best to just take the pill....if things go bad for you on it, you can always switch to another one....there's bound to be one out there that works for you. But do get better...by all means....and take the pill dont worry :) It wont harm you as much as you think it will.
take care
