question about working out everyday

Quote  |  Reply
is it bad on your body to work out about 7 days a week? should i take one day off to give my body a rest? and if i do take one day off, will it affect my weight loss in any way? my usual routine is as follows... 20 minutes on the elliptical- level 8 10 minutes on bike- level 8 15- 20 minutes on treadmill- level 6

does this sound like a good work out routine? sometimes i workout twice a day because i heard running really gets you into shape so i have been runnning as much as possible.

STATS: 15 years old 5 foot 2 129 lbs (as of this morning : ]])

i'm eating around 1200 calories a day.. i would absolutely love any advice you could give me! thanks :)

I've been working out every day - I do at least (this is my bare minimum here) 30 minutes on my stationary bike every day.

Anything extra, like ab work or weights I do every other day.

I eat between 1200 and 1800 calories a day.  I want my caloric deficit to be between 500 and 900 calories (caloric deficit = difference between your calories burned and calories consumed: I.E.: Total Burned 2500 - Total consumed 1600 = Caloric Deficit 900)

Since you're still young and growing - you may want to up your calories a bit. :)

Getting some sort of cardiovascular exercise every day is recommended. Personally, I think the only time your body may need a break is when youre working with weights. They say that you should take a day off inbetween.
I love working out every day and feel gross if I don't, but I've been working with 2 trainers for over a year now and both tell me your body NEEDS a day for recovery.  Otherwise your muscles won't have time to heal and regenerate (that's how you build muscle) and it will do more harm than good.  Just pick a day to relax.  Sometimes I'll do pilates or yoga on my "off" day to make myself feel better, as long as you don't get your heart rate up!  But no heavy lifting!!

My trainer also told me the same thing, your body does need a rest.

I love to work out everyday. And I do try, but there are times when even my body is telling me to take a day off. It's not a bad thing either because the next day I'm ready to go at it again.

I am a personal trainer in the making and my uncle is a strength coach for several college sports teams...my books and my uncle stress the importance of a day off once a week to let your muscles recooperate and rebuild from the exercise during the other days..your body needs at least a day off to recover...if you can't do that, do what i do and do light stretching or light yoga on your off day
