Not to be rude, but I really doubt you'll find anyone. I'm from Canada (Alberta) and have only seen about 5 Canadians.
sorry, I"m a Saskatchewanian.
hey angelpets - i in fact know there are many Canadians on this site, and i know a few are from ontario... someone started a thread about how many canadians are here on CC, and lots of people added an entry... i'll give this message some time...maybe someone will know...maybe not... i am just curious so it's not urgent or anything.
:)
:)
I bet only if your GP sends you. So ask your GP -)
Hey magic! I'm from Ontario. My wife and I went to a dietician for a while a few years back and it was covered by OHIP back then. You need a referrel from your doctor. If your family doctor agrees that you need help or could use the help of a dietician, you should have no problem getting a referral. Hope that helps:)
thank you hubbaji!! i'll be making an appointment with my GP soon!!

I'm Canadian. I'm in Ontario. I think that if a doctor refers you to nutritionist then its covered. My mom was referred to one when she became a vegetarian and didn't have to pay anything. I would definitely ask your doctor.
I am in toronto and I doubt it
and you can bet the ones that are covered are not that great

I'm an Ontarian as well and I also agree that you should ask your GP. If it is covered at all (which I'm not sure if it is or not) you'd need a referral.
Hi- I'm an Ontarian. I don't believe OHIP covers it but I do believe most extended health benefits cover it. Do you have benefits at work?
Wow angelpets, who would of thought? 5 people from Ontario in the same thread.
=P
=P
Canadian here!!! Not from Ontario though...
If it is like in Québec, any specialist you doctor think you should see is covered.
Also from Ontario and so is my friend stewie. And yes, if it is covered, I think you need a referral. Perhaps not though, because you can be referred to a psychologist which isn't always covered.
I'm from Ontario....Just moved 2 months ago from BC... and speaking of OHIP...
There's no Doctors... OMG it's tough to get a family doc.

Another one from Ontario :)
While it doesn't say for sure on the page
http://www.health.gov.on.ca/english/public/pu b/ohip/services.html
It does give a number to call and find out.
I went to one a number of years ago, though at the time it was covered. Things change, and I can't say 100% if it is still covered.
Good luck! And please let us know what you find.

Hey,
Another one from Ontario!! If you or your husband has benefits at work, it could possibly be covered under them!

Any one have any luck with this???
I finally got a family doctor, and have been doing diligent workouts, and calorie tracking since Feb, but have only lost 18lbs (I have almost 80 to lose, so it's not really that significant!)
I'm wondering if I can get a referral to a Nutritionist/dietitian?? I live in Ontario, but do not have employee health benefits.
Thanks!

Good luck getting one in Toronto. They'll just tell you to pay, or the one they'll refer you to will have a 4 month waitlist, and by that time you'll have had enough time to read and build your own meal plan.
My parents are both self-employed, so we only have government. I say just pay and go to a good one. It's worth not getting jerked around by the system.
