Questions?
I have a few questions
the fist one is i want to stop counting calories and focus on healthy eating? does anyone have any ideas?
the second is why many of us teens can eat a lot and not gain weight?
the third is i go to the gym 4 days out of the week for 60 mins and do yoga on sundays for 60 mins? should i worry about calories at this age? i am a 17 yr old male, and doing this activities can be consider as active or very active or less active?
thanks for your help...?
'Allo! I think I have enough knowledge to atleast answer the first and third question.
Defiantly go for healthy intuitive eating! It's really hard, but if you do go that route, get rid of calories completely. That means no fussing over numbers at all. For me, fussing over numbers while trying to eat on a intuitive basis drove me into a nasty binge cycle, and it's a tough road to go down. I do believe gi-jane said it best: if there's 1/2 veggies or fruit, 1/4 protein and 1/4 carbs on your plate, it's a balanced meal. I defiantly recommend keeping a paper journal, writing down the things you've eaten for awhile. :D
I would say you're active most of the week. Defiantly do not worry about calories too much. Being aware of them can be a good habit to m ake, but getting obsessive or fussing over them causes problems in the long run (truuust me).
I hope that was helpful!
What was the cycle like

The above link will take you to an excellent website which is totally focused on healthy eating suggestions and is aimed at teens. Healthy eating is about balance. It doesn't mean eating nothing but broccoli and steamed fish! If you aim for 80% nutritious, wholesome foods... vegetables, grains, lean meat/fish, olive oil etc.... and 20% 'fun' foods.... ice-cream, cakes, fries... that's not a bad balance. If you ate 80% ice-cream and fries that would be a bad idea, of course.
Teenagers are usually extremely active and, because they're still growing, they therefore need to eat quite a lot just to fuel their bodies. If you're exercising for an hour a day, several days a week - and presumably you're not sat stock still the rest of the time - you are a 'very active' teenager. You do not have to worry about calories but eat regularly, eat well and eat plenty. (When you get into your thirties and you drive everywhere, have a desk-job and a devoted partner that likes cooking, things might change.... so enjoy being young
)
If your diet is good and well-balanced you're much more likely to be able to control your weight and be healthy for your whole life. So it's a good habit to get into and a good life-skill. Best of luck
thanks, and does anyone know what site can be accurate at calculating my bmi and my total calories i can eat in a day?
