okay i have a few questions related to weight gain and body fat!
1) after eating say a 10 000calorie binge does your body absorb all the calories or does it only absorb a few and the rest is passed out?
2) are there genes that control ones body fat percentage?
3) are there genes that control a persons muscle:fat ratio?
4) does it make a difference if i gain weight from eating unhealthy stuff vs. a 'clean' diet?
5) does each person have different genes that control how much nutrients is absorbed from food? like for example, 2 people may eat the same amount of food yet one person absorbs 10% of the calories whereas another person absorbs 90% of the calories?
thanks!
Hon, I really think you need to see a mental health care practitioner. Please get help. I don't think you will find many people willing to answer your questions anymore. You have been provided with all the assistance that can be provided over this internet forum. Seek external help.
You. have. had. these. answers. before.
Either get help, or stop posting here. Patience is running incredibly thin.
Christ almighty.
You NEED to stop thinking about these sorts of things. You already know the answers. Your body is going to absorb as much as it can from whatever you eat - regardless of how much it may be. That's the way the body works. It wants fuel. Genes can play a role in body composition - if you come from a muscular, stocky family, chances are you will be built that way as well. If you are naturally long and lean, it may be more difficult for you to accumulate muscle mass. HOWEVER. As someone recovering from an ED, intially, the weight you gain will be stored as fat - as it would be stored on any person, ED or not. If you give it time, the weight WILL redistribute to where your body needs it to be (muscle mass, organ tissues, etc).
The only people who absorb 10% of what they eat are people who are very, very sick and have malabsorption issues like cystic fibrosis, and even they absorb more of what they eat than that. Stop. Thinking. About. Useless. Things. These questions you ask WILL NOT help you get better, and they have absolutely NO bearing on what you need or should do to get healthy. All you need to do is EAT well. Have good, healthy meals and snacks with a few treats. It is not nearly as difficult or complex as you seem to have yourself believing it is. When you start trying to actually RECOVER from your eating disorder instead of letting in consume you, then we'll talk. Until you get yourself some serious guidance from a therapist and nutritionist, you are going to keep repeating this same cycle and soon people here are going to stop caring. Because if you don't care enough to listen, why should anyone here bother with trying to help? Really, please tell me.
BTW - You are talking to someone who was quite literally about to die last summer from complications due to anorexia nervosa, was eating less than 100 calories a day and still managing to run 6 miles and dance for 2-3 hours a day. If I can pull myself back from impending death, there is NO reason why you cannot take care of this now, unless you do not truly want to get better. I have no more sympathies for you.

Well said sugarshocked.
Rebelchick, I have been reading your blog and I must say you really are an inspiration!
I have been struggling into recovery for a couple of years now, and it is still an uphill battle for me.
Reading your blog and also your helpful posts on this site has inspired me to keep going and be more positive about food.
::blushes: Aw, thanks! You guys are so sweet. I'm glad that me and my ramblings are of some use haha. I'm also really glad that you are working towards recovery. I know its hard but it truly is worth every effort. Be proud of yourselves! Ultimately its your choice and your own strength and determination that gets you there.
