Quick breakfast without preparation on the go??? Ideas please??

Quote  |  Reply

Hi everyone =)

I'm trying to find some healthy, easy, no-need-to-prepare breakfast ideas around 200~350 calories.. Can anybody offer any suggestions? Perhaps something I can just buy in a store or buy premade even?? I'm really short on time in the mornings, and since the subway is so crowded during rush hour, I can only eat really quickly at home before I dash out..

Thank you, and good luck everyone!!

Don't laugh, but I am loving Slim Fast shakes for breakfast!

The one in the can is gross.  I buy the powder, and mix it in the blender.  You need ice cubes to make it frothy.  That makes a big difference. Chocolate Royale flavor.

I swear, it tastes like its bad for you!  Not like a real ice cream shakes, but good!

It takes less than a minute.

I often have a protein shake/meal replacement for breakfast.  The ones I have are best if you mix a banana with them, but other than that, they're fast and portable.  Pretty healthy blend of carbs and protein.

Clint

1 cup fage 0% yogurt (120)

1/2 cup kashi golean crunch (100)

1/2 cup blueberries (40)

260 calories - yogurt cereal parfait :)

Fruit (always a good idea, also you can cut some up before hand if you like)

Yogurt

cottage cheese and tomato (this is not for everyone but super good!)

Granola (just be careful it is good granola, some of them are not that healthy)

If you're looking to eat in the car, cut up an apple the night before and a couple tablespoons of peanut butter in a little container with it :)

If you have like 3 minutes to prepare, this is what I have every morning (1/2 minute prep, 1/2 minute cook time!): An english muffin with 1 tablespoon (no need to measure, just grab like a pinchful.. just enough to cover the english muffin top generously), and a Morningstar veggie sausage patty (any sausage patty that is pre-cooked/frozen/microwaveable will work!), put it together like a sandwich, and put it in the microwave for 1 minute and 25 seconds, and it will be ready & taste like a McDonald's breakfast sandwich.. only better!  I know Weight Watchers makes something similar with egg whites and cheese in their Smart Ones collection in the stores, and it's like 200 calories for it (same amount for homemade), but they cost like $2.50-$3.50 depending on where you buy them.  Much cheaper to buy the English muffins, shredded cheese, and sausage patties separately :)

I too love the Slim Fast shakes for breakfast, and I even like the ones in a can! (Chocolate Royal is the best!) Under 200 calories and full of vitamins and protein, its great for when you have absolutely no time. Or, if you're like me, when you are just feeling lazy.

I've never tried the slimfast shakes, but I just read on another thread that they're full of sugar.

Many good ideas on here....protein shake (I use ISOPURE), banana, cott cheese, string cheese, yogurt, chicken breast, fruit, cold oatmeal (it's not as gross as it sounds, tastes good cold), the possibilities and endless.  It is all a matter of what you like.  If you are short on time in the morning, fix your breakfast the night before or...get up 15 min earlier and fix egg whites!

Here is what I eat every morning:

1 container Blended Yogurt = 190 cal

.25 cup Planter's NUT-rition Digestive Health mix (it has pistachios, almonds, dried cranberries, granola, and dried cherries) = 150

Total calories = 340

I just pour my 1/4 cup nut mix into a sandwich baggie, toss in a plastic spoon, and stick that and the container of yogurt in my purse. When I get to work I mix it together and eat it while I work.

It's very filling because there's a lot of fiber in the nut mix. And the yogurt is full fat full sugar so it's not watery and gross like diet yogurt.

I eat alot of peanut butter and crackers. They come in packs of 6 and range from 200-220 calories. The protein gets me going and honestly, they keep me fuller for longer. I buy them at Meijer and there are 8 packs of 6 crackers for ~$2.50.

Hi,

I always find mornings are too short! I'm a Personal Trainer (www.a-firmative.co.uk), so I actually have to train people 1st thing, but I always have breakfast! Some ideas I use...

  1. Fresh Fruit salad (prepared the night before)
  2. Pot of natural yogurt with fresh strawberries / banana / apple / grape / satsuma etc
  3. Bagel with banana slices
  4. Cereal bar and a piece of fruit (just make sure you pick the cereal bar with no hydrogenated fat)
  5. Quick microwaveable porridge (good for cold mornings) I use a throw away tub, so once mircowaves pinged I'm out the door with it!)

I hope some of those ideas work for you.

How about getting up twenty minutes earlier.....?

 Impossible!

I love "Balance" bars in the morning. They are 200 cal's and have 15 grams of Protein.

I like the yogurt honey peanut flavor best then the peanut butter is a close 2nd. I don't like chocolate soooo I have not tried that flavor.

and I drink a glass of fat free milk with it!

I eat this at 5am and feel good until 11am but I am sure that depends on the person.

My second choice is I will eat a pot of yoplait fat free yogurt for breakfast when I don't feel like eating a energy bar.

My third choice "for quick" make a banana smoothly w/fat free milk, ice, 1 small banana. put in blender for 1 min then pore in to go cup! sip at you drive :-)

Sorry but  I don't know how this quote thing works and I F ed it all up.

Funny joke, get up 20 minutes early lol ha ha ha!

For a quick breakfast the name says it all: Gogurt!  Of course you can't eat that everyday.  I like the protein shake ideas, I think I will try.  I didn't get breakfast this morning and one of them would've been perfect.

A cup of cottage cheese and a cup of berries or some other kind of fruit.  Takes a minute to assemble, longer to eat. :)

fiber one toaster pasries

luna or cliff bars (love them!)

instant low sugar oatmeal

boil eggs for the week, put them in a bowl and keep em' in the fridge. grab, crack, and go.

Whole wheat toast with all natural peanut butter

Chocolate milk with protien powder mixed in (the chocolate kind)..tastes very indulgent if you are a chocoholic like me

steam some rice put it in a bowl, put it in the fridge..eat with honey (raw is awsome)

umm i could probably think of more but these are what i like to mix it up with. I also can understand the not having time in the a.m. I work 7:30 to 6 everyday an hour away from where i live. I am DEF not a morning person (i literally wake up 15 mins before i have to leave..lol) so i just make sure i am prepared the night before. Hope this helps!!

Lots of things take a bit of time - but can be done the night before.

My husband enjoys omelets made into a sandwich that he can heat up, wrap in a paper towel, and eat while driving to work.  We tend to make a couple extra just for that.

Boiled eggs are awesome, especially paired with a piece of fruit.  You could even crack them before you store them to save that time in the morning.

You can even put cereal and milk into a coffee cup and drink it - like the soup to go that they sell.

I enjoy a mixture of bran flakes, the "rabbit food" kind of fiber one, and homemade granola with milk many mornings.  Quick, easy and healthy.

I also mix the fiber one with my cottage cheese and some fruit.

Really, it's up to you.  There are lots of things you could do the night before to save time in the morning, like cut up fruit to put in your cottage cheese or cereal, portion out things, cook things that take a while to cook like eggs.  Lots of things you can eat on the go, especially if you don't have to drive.

Greetings,

A good friend of mine, and fellow teacher, usually runs late in the mornings.  He takes a big red plastic cup, fills it with cereal and milk, and then hops in his truck and rides to work.  Perhaps somethings like this would work for you if you are truly pressed for time - Kashi GoLean cereal is quite good, maybe just throw some fruit in there too.

I hope this helped.  Take care.
