A Quick Hello =]
Hey loves,
i dont know if any of you remember me but i started coming to this forum when i was severly underweight do to anorexia. It was a hard struggle but i finally gained to a healthy weight and started to maintain over the summer. I havnt really been on here since but i thought i would come back because i am having a hard time maintaining now =[ Its really upsetting me because i worked so hard and am in no ways thinking like an anorexic anymore. I eat what i want, when i want. I have three meals plus three snacks a day for the most part, im not avoiding anything, etc. etc. I am involved in two sports and am hardly at home so i pack like three lunch baggies full of food when i head out the door in the morning. My mom had me weigh myself two weekends ago and well i had lost quite alot. This scared the bajeeeezes out of me so i went back to those high cal foods i knew could help and i counted the cals i had been having and it was actually well above 2000 as far as i could tell so i dont understand that i was loosing? and now im back up to 3000 plus but still no gain.
I wonder if its my metabolism? cuse im litteraly always hungry...yes im the girl in class that everyone wants to shoot cuse you can hear her fumbling in her bag with wrappers and what not of food lol. Thank god i caught this before i actually became unhealthily underweight again though. Any helpful comments would be greatly appreciated.
i love you guys and im glad to see your progress =]
love mandy

No it's because you're 'involved in two sports and am hardly at home'.... People who do a lot of activity need a lot of food. People who have a history of anorexia and a tendency to undereat or choose low-cal foods need to track their calories regularly so that they avoid slipping back... even if it's unintentional. People who used to be overweight and have a tendency to overeat have to do the exact same thing in reverse...
If you're not gaining on 3000, increase it to 3500, 4000, etc., etc.
I remember you :)! We're the same age and height, the only difference is that I'm male. All I can say is if you want to gain while having a busy life, then breakfast is the most important meal, since it's the meal you probably have most time to prepare. So make it count, cram as much as you can into that breakfast :)
hey i remember you grt to hear from you , you certainly sound busy , every likely you are hungry , this is a good thing listen to it h x
i know the sports and being out and stuff is wats making it difficult...but i cant exactly stopp...so yes i get a hell of alot in with breakfast and peanutbutter is luckily one of my fav foods haha i have alot of peanutbutter =] and im always home right before dinner so i have what my mom prepares. SOooooo breakfast and dinner i get at home but theres thirteen hours inbetween that im eating watever i can shove in a bag.....but ill try and keep increasingggg
and im glad im remembered =] hehe i remember yall too!
hey summer you have all the advice you need but i just wanted to say helloooo!!!!!! you were such a positive person when you posted and i was suuper happy for you when you reached your goal weight.... guess what (if you remember me) im close to mine too..... yay!!! i should be better by december i hope....
yeah and don't stop your activity cause its what gives you a life!!! otherwise you'd be completley bored. so i suggest just making the most out of your peanutbutter stash.... mmmm what can't you do with peanutbutter???
It's common for recovered anorexics to need extra calories to maintain. Plus, I see from your profile that you're 14 - and 14yr olds need extra calories, because you're still growing. And, on top of all that, you're playing sports. So, it makes lots of sense to me that you'd need 3000+ just to maintain, and probably 4000 or so to gain.
If you're hungry, that's another sign that you definitely need to eat more. Maybe you could keep eating how you're eating - the 3 meals + 3 snacks, and add a super-high-calorie shake right before bed. If you include premium ice cream, heavy cream, plus choc syrup/ PB/ fruit etc., you can probably get it up to 800+ calories.
I'm so glad that the weight loss didn't lead to any bad thoughts, your attitude is awesome!
awwww lineyline!!!!! im so proud of you!! keep going! dont give up and i know you can be healthy before christmas =] and haha theres oh so much you can do with pb....aka sammies, put them on fruits like raisins bananas or apples or on carrots...i put it in oatmeal...and you can make sauces outta pb..or anythinggggg!!!
and apple...yeah i kinda keep forgetting teens normally need more just cuse like well u know most people i hang around dont really eat muchhhh soooo im not around people, such as my bros friends who eat like normal piggish teens. But yeah i eat when im hungry and even when im not just cuse i know i should so it would be diffficult adding in another snack but the shake is a good thought....i just cant exactly take in shake-like things. Smoothies i love but they dont have like any cals even if you use ice cream...but shakes and ensures and those kinds of things...the texture and just everything about it makes me sick. BUTTTTTTT i do find other ways to get alot of cals in before bed...night is when i can take in the most so i normally do that by snacking on extremely high cal oatmeal concoctions, chocomilk, almonds dipped in cinn raisin swirl pb hehe, high cal ww crackers with pb and honey, etc etc.
