hey, just found out we're going out for Mexican for lunch. Any suggestions on what to order not to kill my plan for the day?

have some steak, no beans (they are fried) ask for a small salad, skip the rice and have some guacamole, maybe 1 tortilla, I usually order a steak tavo and throw out the tortilla. oh and have water :)
i usually will order soft tacos with grilled chicken. I skip the sour cream and use salsa and a little bit of quacamole instead. It is pretty low cal and tastes really good!
stay *away* from the taco salads, whatever you do!
you could order the fajitas with guac instead of sourcream and then eat it all with out the torts or maybe just one tort.....that ends up usually being chicken...peppers..onions and lettuce cheese and salsa...not to bad just go easy at dinner and order a salad ahead of time to help feel you up before so you won't even be able to finish the other.
I posted this for a similar post, so here it is...reposted!:
Shrimp ceviche is my favorite.
By the way, the fried tortilla chips is what will get you...Try ordering soft corn tortillas and eating the salsa with those (NOT flour tortillas; anything but flour tortillas...). Order everything with black beans instead of refried beans, and you'll automatically cut tons of calories and fat. Also, most mexican restaurants have two items that American people don't think of:
Fish, like Red snapper or Mahi Mahi, usually served with beans and rice but you can substitute veggies and pico de gallo.
and Chicken soup. most Mexican restaurants offer a fabulous chicken soup with hunks of chicken (bones included!), slices of real corn on the cob, squash, tomatoes, cilantro and all kinds of other wonderful vegetables.
Mexican food can be tropical, fresh and healthy, you just have to think outside of the box! Most Americans think of tacos and quesadillas when they think mexican...Open your mind to the menu and you might be pleasently surprised.

if it's a decent Mexican restaurant... try a grilled fish taco on a soft tortilla with salsa... add a small salad with lime juice... stick with grilled fish/chicken/meat... soft tortillas, not fried... look at the menu for ideas and ask for modifications to keep you on track.
When I go for mexican, I always get fajitas.
I ask to have the meat and vegetables made dry (no oil).
The torts are small, and only made from flour and water (where I go to eat). Therefore, I feel comfortable having 2 of them (or even three, if I exercised that day!). I usually cut out some of the edge, to make them smaller. This cuts calories without sacrificing the comofrt of eating a full fajita!
Stay away from the cheese and sour cream.
Use hot sauce, salsa, and veggies to add fullness / flavour.
