Quick question. What brand of eye cream do you use? (no drug store brand pls)
:)
Taking care of your skin is great, but unless you already have these issues there is really no need to use the products :). Putting cucumber on your eyes can help reduce puffiness (as long as there's no allergy). Also, you can get these reusable gel face mask things that you put in the fridge and put on your eyes. Beyond this, just make sure to clean and moisturize your face AT LEAST once a day, and remove any makeup you use. Pat your face dry when you wash it. Apply moisturizer in an upward circular motion, and foundation in a downward circular motion. And exfoliate :)
These are the tricks I learned from my mother, who is 55 but looks 40. And I'm about the same age as you.
Oh, and don't forget suntan lotion when you'll be outside! UV's can be detrimental to skin!
Cliniques All About Eyes is fantastic for dark circles and puffyness but will do nothing for wrinkles. You might want to check out Advanced Stop Signs for eyes (clinique too) because that is also really good.
I used to work for Clinique and I would recommend you go down to the closest department store and have a chat with one of the girls working. They will likely recommend a cream that will do exactly what you're looking for in an eye cream, without trying to rip you off. You'll spend a bit of money, but if an eye cream should last you about 6 months. At around 60 bucks a pop, that's 10 bucks a month, mere pennies a day! And isn't your skin worth it?

I now use vaseline instead. :D
My favorite undereye cream is by Clarins, it has SPF 30 in it. Smells nice, and goes on smooth.
My kids say I look like an older sister to my daughter (I'm almost 66); others who meet us say the same thing, and what I've done ALL my life is:
#1 - Cotton pads soaked with witch hazel (cheap) - lie down; feet up, rest 20 minutes.
#2 - A cucumber slice on each eye in the summer when they're in the garden.
#3 - a 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil each night around the eye area; just 'pat' it onl it absorbs while you sleep (and you can cook with it too).
#4 - INTERNALLY TAKE: A good fish-oil capsule; or down a teaspoon of olive oil followed by a glass of water with some lemon juice in the water.
#5 - INTERNALLY - eat lots of fruits and vegetables; light on greasy foods, and desserts.
#6 - Good exercise; nothing terribly 'fancy' - walking; sports, hiking - that FRESH AIR is good for ALL YOUR SKIN AND HAIR.
#6 - B-complex vitamins; good for the skin (including your eye area of course); hair, and nails.
You don't need to spend money on expensive creams. Many of those creams have other additives that DRY the eyes (like alcohol), as well as fillers such as Titanium Dioxide (to make that nice white bright cream look so inviting). They also use Kaolin clay - to 'hold' it together.
I worked in the R&D labs of a large cosmetic company (can't use their name here), so I know what they've done to make you have to 'come back and buy more', and that alcohol makes your eye area dry out; you buy MORE - they make MORE money.
Olive oil is NATURAL - nothing but a very good moisturizer with no additives.
Give it a go..................
sixtyfivealive has the best advice on this thread so far.
If you are still interested in cosmetics, check out http://www.makeupalley.com for user reviews on every product you can imagine. I don't ever buy anything until I read their reviews.
Also check the product ingredients, as sixtyfive mentioned, loads of drying products in all face products. No sense in drying out your skin even more and getting more wrinkles!!!
I agree with you guys on the expensive doesn't equal good quality idea. I'll never use non-specialist brands for skin-products anymore....
Thanks a lot for your advise tho!! :D
