Quick question on calculating activity level

Quote  |  Reply
Hey Everyone,

So I'm trying to figure out my "activity" level. I calculated (through the math way thats on the site here) how many calories I burn just sitting on my butt.

Now I'm a receptionist so sit about 8 hours a day. BUT I do an hour of running everynight and 3 times a week I do yoga as well.

Using this chart, what would you say my activity level is?

  1. If you are sedentary (little or no exercise) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.2
  2. If you are lightly active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/week) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.375
  3. If you are moderatetely active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/week) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.55
  4. If you are very active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days a week) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.725
  5. If you are extra active (very hard exercise/sports & physical job or 2x training) : Calorie-Calculation = BMR x 1.9
The reason I ask is when using the tools on this webpage it says that "Light" activity is if your moving throughout the day.. which I'm really not.

What you all think?

Thanks!

I'd guess Light, but I ask the same question myself, as I typically do an hour of workout a day.
I would say #3 moderate since you are doing this everyday and also with yoga.
Well, I workout every morning M-F for 45 minutes and it's INTENSE!  I usually burn between 700-900 calories.  I work a desk job but am up and down a lot during the day.  I run around a bit after work too.  I consider myself Moderate due to the excersise.  I try to eat between 1500-1700 cals a day.  Works for me!

I would go with sedentary.

+ calories of the actual workout you are doing.

The activity log gives you a good idea how much calories you burn depending on the activity.
