Weight Gain

Lately, I've been hovering at around 1350 calories (Even though yesterday I ate 1950!!) or so and still gaining. I've noticed that some people have recovered completely from their ED with somewhat normal numbers (1500 or so) and then others need 3000+. I am lately loving food a lot again, and I'm thinking of just increasing to 1800 overnight, then 2000, then 2250, and then finally to 2500. All in one week.

I know the first two weeks or so you gain a lot of weight, but then lose most of it because it's water weight. Since I'm not increasing that rapidly would this might not happen to me though? I'm starting to get scared that I'm just going to keep on gaining and gaining because i upped my cals so slow and never really 'kicked' up my metabolism. Because some people claim full recovery without ever doing that. But I actually WANT to be able to eat a lot of calories again, and I think that it's not gonna work. I'm just kinda afraid right now, it's so confusing.. :(

Any increase results in fluctuation. Just stay off of the scales for two weeks regardless, and if they really bother you stay off them altogether.

Thanks lalabanana :)

But might there be the chance that my metabolism never speeds up? That's what I'm scared. Also, do you think me increasing this fast will hurt me in any way, or is it a good plan?

BTW: It's weird, you're kinda like my idol or something. I mean I look up to you a lot. You're kinda like famous in these forums, it's like you always know the answer to everything and help anyone in need. Lolz, you rock XD

:edit: Also, in my other post, you told me that the only thing that I really need to watch is my salt and trans fat intake. How much should I limit my salt to? (I love salty food XP)

I'd like to add a related question if I may (and you totally do rock ellie!):

hypothetically, were one to slip up or eat less than one was supposed to or had been doing, would that result in weight loss?  And would it then have a permanent affect on the recovery of the metabolism?

One day makes very little difference either way.   But to gain weight steadily it's best to be consistent.

Metabolism can speed up again even if we slow it down. Though, as jane said, it's better when you're consistent. You've not done your metabolism so much damage and wrong that it will never speed up. And it's not a speed to increase that's too fast at all - in fact, that looks quite a sensible rate of increase. About the same speed as I did it initially.

One day of eating a little less than usual will not cause a complete slow down. But it is best to avoid those sorts of days when and where possible, really.

The RDA for salt is 2400mg of sodium, or 6g of salt. Don't go over that, but do get some in your diet as sodium/salt is still a vital electrolyte - about 1000mg minimum a day.

Thanks you're awesome! XD

I'm really getting exited over recovery now, and I actually can't wait! I just want to get the increase over with! Hahaha ED will DIE!! *dun dun dun*

Quite welcome. It's good to see enthusiasm and, really, the quicker you get to it, the quicker recovery is over and you can move on with life. :]
