Hi all, I'm new here and have just tried out the calorie counter for the first time. My question is: How accurate is it? I'm a bit surprised to find out that I ate less than my daily recommended amount!
Thanks

Hi!
I'm a little skeptical about some of the counts. I know for a fact that one of the foods I regularly eat (Kangaroo Whole Wheat Pita Pockets) is inaccurate. The actual packaging says that 1/2 of the pocket is 80 calories. CC says the whole pocket is only 80 calories. So far, that's the only food that I've found to be way off. There was something else the other day that was off by...50 calories or something like that. Everything else has been really close--yes, I'm a geek who compared everything I entered to CC's information. Argh.
On a side note, I don't always like the serving measurements CC uses--it isn't always the same as the packaging on the food and that throws me off.
Don't get me wrong. I love this site. I'm losing weight and holding myself accountable for the food I eat by entering it into the log. I tried Weight Watchers and it sucked. I only lost a couple pounds and plateaued for about 2 months. Came here and within a week and a half lost 5 pounds.
Best of luck to you!

I find it pretty accurate. Of course if there is information on the food packaging I'll enter that, but for the raw food like tomatoes, avocado, peaches, etc, it's accurate enough. If you're new to the dieting thing make sure you use a food scale or you'll end up underestimating the food intake.
I LOVE CC!! But, I do agree with what Cheeky said about serving measurements. I sometimes get frustrated when I see "One serving" of something. I want to see ounces or tablespoons, or cups, or ? I would like to see EXACT measurements, not just "One serving."
