quilting and other crafts

Quote  |  Reply
Ok yall... I have noticed on a few profiles that I have read that a lot of us enjoy quilting and various other crafts.

So other than ourselves, what are we all working on right now?

I have a cheaters quilt in the works as well as an afghan and a couple of small cross stitch projects. I rotate what I am working on at any given time. I also have 3 quilt tops waiting to be backed and quilted....

i'm working on a quilt where the kids at the place i do volunteer work make the blocks andi piece it together for a door prize for the volunteer appreciation dinner.. i'm also working on a wall hanging of the month (still working on feb. but almost done) then i'm also working on 2 big quilts.. one's a king size repo 30's prints and the other is a twin size repo civil war underground railroad quilt... some of the civil war squares are on my blog (you can get to it from my profile).  that's it for right now.. :) but i ithink that's enough.. hehe
I don't quilt - but I scrapbook like a mad woman!  Right now I'm working on Alex's 2nd birthday pictures.... and I have a zillion others to still do:)
I don't quilt but I paint w/ acrylics and dabble in some water colors.  I used to also make jewelry all the time and sell it . My corporate Work world has kept me busy so I have not had the time or place to do my hobbies.  All of this is changing soon.  Next month we start working on my art studio (a single car garage conversion) w/French doors ect.. I can't wait!!  I need my creative outlet.  I have done a little sewing in the past and I would like to make some comforter covers.
I am working on a small cross-stitch, and also crocheting different kinds of blocks with different yarns to find what would work best for a blanket/afghan for my daughter. I found a velour type yarn that works up gorgeous, its so soft. I crochet a top and back it with polarfleece and the blanket comes out beautifully. Made one for my sons last birthday - he loves it!  I also am trying out new knitted patterns for dishrags.  I give away a lot as gifts at the holidays.
I'm a beader/jewelry maker.

I have some beautiful lavender jade beads to play with, but couldn't decide yet what to do with them.
i'm so glad to hear some of you guys have several projects in the works...  cuz i can't seem to do just one at a time!  i just finished sewing a comforter, dust ruffle, pillow sham set for that precious little granddaughter of ours.... have a dress in the works for her..  then found out we're getting a new grandbaby in september!! so i paused on her dress and made a sleeper in mint green to get started for that little bundle....
I'm always working on a scrapbook!!!!
I'm a knitter, making a hat with attached scarf for my mommy she lives in MI where it is cold. Not a lot of knitted wear worn here in TN.

Although if I get to my goal I do have a pattern for a bikini!
Right now I've still got an afghan I'm crocheting and have been for a couple years now. LOL I enjoy it but get bored easily and end up doing other things.
Carol -

A knitted bikini?  Is it as revealing as it sounds????
I am teaching my 13 year old daughter to knit. Were working on Knitted Babes. They are a fun doll sort of like a knitted Barbie doll. I just finished the binding on a single size quilt for my great nephew I drew his hands and feet on it and other things he likes. I just tied it. I have a queen size Canada Flag quilt in the frame made with  3 inch blocks and triangles of different red prints. Also have a crossword puzzle" family tree" quilt top on the go... it's neat its all done in black and white print fabric except the letter blocks which are black letters on a white on white print fabric. plus other things on the go. I think I am rambling....I better go
I think it is cool that we pass on the things we learn. My gram taught me to peice quilts, my mom taught me to crochet and embroider, I learned cross stitch from a girl in college and I learned quilling when I was in junior high from a teacher.

I have taught my daughter to crochet and I started to teach both her and my son quilling and quilting. Daughter still does the crochet stuff but the rest they aren't real interested in right now. I figure as they get a little older if they are wanting to learn again then I will help them out.
Scrapbooker here too...I love to scrapbook....I am working on my son's
last year in high school.  It started with his Junior Prom and I
am working up to his graduation in June.  It is so cool.  I
have his prom pictures of him getting fitted for his tux, the prom
date, then I have his first new car pictures of him purchasing it with
the salesman, his first wreck in his first new car...giggles...scary
but funny when you look back...his first bill he had to
pay...giggles...his first job uniform, his friends pictures, his senior
photos, school activities and report cards....it is really pretty I
used a lot of his school colors which are blue and silver along with
some dark reds....I love to share ideas if anyone has any ideas they
would like to share...its a really good thing to keep you busy so you
dont nibble on food....gigggles...

Not revealing, tight stitches and cotton yarn, at least the bikini to wear in public!

Love to sew...especially quilt!!!

I LOVE TO QUILT!

LOL, -Glinda

Hi there!  I'm crocheting a baby layette (top, booties, cap and afghan) for baby girl due in March.  I've also got a quilt top all sewn and layed out in the basement -- just need to muster up the the energy to get it all sandwiched with the backing and batting.  I also have 6-1/2" squares of denim I'm cutting from my husband's old Levi's to make him a large heavy rag quilt!  I was so excited to learn how to knit last year, but after a making a few scarves, I haven't knitted much lately.  It's so nice to meet everyone.  I just started CCP at the end of December.

 Diana :-)

I like to do counted cross stitch, but I have been working on an ABC afghan for years because I can never find the time I need for it (I'm only up to N).

There's also a lot of patterns I've discovered with a teacup/teapot theme I would love to use for my kitchen - but not sure when I would do it.

Would love to learn how to start scrap booking - I've come across a treasure trove of old family photos, and it would be great to have a good presentation for them as an heirloom.

I don't quilt, but I do sew and right now I'm working on a pair of bondage shorts in zebra print.  Unfortunately I'm stuck with just pattern drafting at the moment since it's taking forever and a day for my work table to finally get here, but I've been promised I'll have it by tomorrow night.

Same here, I start cross-stitching something or knitting, and eventually get bored :(

Always liked art class, drawing, painting, clay, but again at home I end up not continuing what I'm working on :(

It's nice to see so many other crocheters on here! I'm crocheting a huge afghan (all front post and back post double crochets to make a square pattern).  I love jmmrm's idea of backing an afghan with polar fleece - I might just try it!

I also make jewelry (got a beautiful strand of sapphires at the gem show a while ago and I've been having lots of fun playing with those).

Currently, I'm learning to sew, finally. My first project was an apron, and I just have to stitch the pocket on to finish it up. I'm excited to start moving on to new sewing projects.
