Okay, when it says Quinoa is 160cal for 1/3 cup, does that mean dry and un-cooked, or cooked?

...I'm a little confused. D:

try looking on the box you got it in?

Quinoa is about 100 cals per ounce, uncooked weight.  So if 1/3 cup is just shy of 2ozs then 160cals makes sense.

Most uncooked grains are about 600 calories a cup uncooked, and about 80 calories for 1/3 to 1/2 cup cooked. So, 160 for 1/3 cup seems right for an uncooked amount.

Alrighty, thanks. :)

xylish: It doesn't say uncooked or cooked on the package.

For future reference, the calorie and nutrition information on most packaged goods is quoted 'as sold'... unless otherwise stated.  So dry goods like pasta and quinoa will have the nutrition info in the state you buy them i.e. uncooked.

The nutrition information is also usually shown 'per 100g' but some manufacturers opt for 'per serving' or 'per unit'.... When that happens, check what a 'serving' actually is.  Sometimes it's the whole pack, sometimes half, sometimes less.
