Quit smoking - weight probs

Quote  |  Reply
Hello everyone, just popped in to say hi.  Only just come across this site and its lovely to have somewhee to calculat cals etc along with like minded people.  Do attend a diet class but a bit miffed since quitting smoking 3 weeks ago my weight is standing still no matter how much exercise I do.  Dare say something will give eventually.  Am going to keep a record of just how many cals I use daily and see if anything needs adjusting.  Once again, hello everyone.

You should really wait to lose weight .... Because your body is going though a hard time and you are going to stress your self by doing too much too soon ...Good luck

I lost the weight first then quit smoking and managed to gain alot back cause I didn't watch what I was eating for the first few weeks/ months plus the Welbutrin I took to help with the quit issue caused me to want to eat a lot.

I know for the first 90 days after qutting smoking the body's metabolism takes a big dive!!  If  you aren't gaining and are able to hold steady for awhile I would say stick to it for now and drink a ton of water to help flush those toxins out of your system.

when i quite smoking i did not weigh myself till i hit the 3month point. then i started to drink lots of water and stared walking 4 or 5 days a week. after i walked for 1 month then i started working out. good luck to you. make quiting smoking your first goal.
I too recently quit smoking and the crazy food cravings were awful.  I couldn't stop putting food in my mouth.  I am going on a cruise in 2 months and need to get into a little better shape so that's where this site comes in.  Best of luck to you!

i quit smoking a little over a year ago and i managed to not gain too much weight by substituting my cigarettes with sugar free peppermints rather then eating more - i kept with the exercise and healthy eating because it helped with the mood swings and stress but it only took 2 weeks or so for me to be completely fine and feeling better - this is after 13 years of smoking a pack a day ...
