am sad to be a coffee addict..!! does quitting helps weight loss in anyway?
I usually take....1 cup in the morning and 1 in the evening..thats all..
If I skip...at least once a day....then, I get headache....for sure ..which goes for another day or two..
i don't drink any other caffeine drinks..( diet coke..pepsi..etc)
even if I drink..it would be very less....amt..that too..may be once in a week..or so..
Can someone...suggest me..how to get rid of coffee( if it helps to lose weight)...without hurting..

The only reason it would really make losing weight harder is if you put a lot of creamer/sugar in your coffee. I know I can easily add 100 cals or more a cup.
Some people argue that a lot of caffeine makes weight loss slow, but I have also heard that a moderate amount of caffeine helps boost your metabolism.
If you want to try to cut out caffeine, the only thing you can do is suffer through the headache. Don't quit cold turkey, but if you have 2 cups a day, have 1 cup and a half a day for a week, then 1 cup a day for a week...ect... until you don't drink it anymore.
I mean are you "really" drinking Two 8oz cups? Or is a "cup of coffee" something else? A huge mug?

I've heard that coffe can make your blood sugar (or something?) drop, which makes you subconsciously want a sweet snack after drinking it (think coffee and donuts).
does that happen to you? if you're able to have your coffee without a snack I dont think you have anything to worry about.
if you're having a snack, try to wean yourself away from it! :o)

Yes, I almost have a breakfast/snack...along with coffee. Not a sugary one because, the tastebuds feels different..as though no sugar in coffee...I eat..Mostly a spicy/salty one ....
and nocturne: its just a small/regular cup of coffee..

replace your coffee with green tea...there is still a little bit of caffeine and maybe that won't make your headaches as bad
I think black coffee helps weight loss actually, and it supresses hunger as well :)
i have never noticed a change in my weight gain/loss due to coffee, unless we're talking about a big ol' mocha with whipped cream. i don't think there's anything wrong with coffee in moderation.
I really love coffee, and I think that if it would hinder my weight loss, I'd still have a problem giving it up, lol. So glad it doesn't. Well, not to my experience, anyways.
I dont' think 2 cups of coffee is a lot??!! I do recommend maybe having one a day and replacing the one at night with a green tea?! As long as its not loaded with sugar and cream then you should enjoy it in moderation.
There's a lot of debate going around as to whether coffee is healthful or not (it raises blood pressure! it lowers blood pressure! it has antioxidants that reduce the risk of cancer! it causes cancer!); between all the contradictory studies, who knows whether it's good for you? But if you aren't adding calorie-rich cream and sugar to your coffee, go ahead and enjoy it. The only thing I'd be concerned about is that coffee is a diuretic (i.e. it makes you pee a lot, which renders you a bit dehydrated). Make sure you drink plenty of water throughout the day so you don't confuse thirst with hunger and overeat. :)
I don't know if coffee supresses/helps weight loss. My mother typically drinks 10! cups of coffee or more a day. She recently tried to lose weight, and it took her over a month to lose 5 pounds. I think the coffee has something to do with it. She also has ulcers and coffee is not good for you if you have those. She doesn't use sugar anymore (replaced it with Splenda), but she still uses half and half. She puts quite a bit of half and half in her cup too. I figured that's a big part as of to why she didn't lose much. I told her that she should count her calories, but she said it would be too hard. And she also thinks that it's strange that I count mine. Ahh well...I tried to help her.
I personally drink about 25 ounces of coffee every morning (with splenda and skim milk) and I've lost 46 lbs! I talked to my doctor about it and she said it won't hinder weight loss, but it will dehydrate you, so drink plenty of water and you'll be fine. I will NEVER give up my coffee! :)
Thanks everyone..
another question..is Splenda/equalizer okay to intake?
I don't want to hear something ...like.."whoever had splenda/equalizer will have this issue..." down the lane
because, i feel...anything natural( like cane sugar..) shouldn't cause any probs..
note: am not really sure about the ingredients in splenda/equalizer

Mmm, well I really like Splenda because it gives me the least amount of side effects out of all the artifical sweeteners.
That being said, I still avoid them. However, they are a necessary evil in my life, the only thing I eat on a regular basis with Splenda in it is my fat free yogurt.
If I have the choice in other products that are low cal, I'll take Splenda on any given day.

Coffee... well caffiene does a number on you. In the small amounts you're having it's not so bad. I would suggest though maybe getting some caffiene free or caffiene reduced (if there is such a thing) coffee and keep on drinking it till you can get to caffiene free.
First caffiene does dehydrate you a bit and causes you to retain a bit of water. Second (and this is more for people who drink more), the caffiene causes contractions in your blood vessels and speeds up your heartrate. You may feel a bit better but when you're off it your heartrate slows and the effects of the constricted blood vessels leads to ... yep... headaches... even migrains.
So hey it's really good if you can work towards not being depended on it anymore. It is a drug and it is addictive and you don't need it to be awake in the morning. I have been caffiene free for nearly a year now and every day is so much easier. I have yet to have a headache since dropping caffiene as well... plus my blood pressure is now down.
Blood pressure is another thing too. Go get yours if it's anywhere near the border then it's probably the caffiene that's keeping you from showing your real blood pressure which is higher. When you get it out of your system and your heartrate slows a little you'll see that spike due to the constricted vessels. Once they get back to normal you'll see your blood pressure drop. I was pre-hypertension on caffiene... after getting clean I ended up right under the line in the normal range.
I was probably drinking more than you though. Not coffee but a 2 liter of softdrinks a day at work. Still they say there's a lot more in coffee... but who knows. No matter what... it's not good for you.

I have a cup of coffee every morning. I use 2 tsp of real actualy SUGAR (oooooooh) and nice rich and yummy half & half. The large mug is right about 90 calories...that is a high estimate that I add into my count daily...calories are calories.
Drinking coffee and tea hinders the absorption of iron from our food. So, if you do drink it, don't drink it after a meal. Best to drink something with Vitamin C, like orange juice, which helps to absorb iron. I think this is something that women especially need to be careful of.
Drinking green tea or herbal tea can help you lose weight. Not by helping your matablism or anything like that but by providing your body with stuff it needs that you either arn't getting with food or that your excersiging has taken out of your body. of course if you're eating perfectly then you don't need this =P. Some of the most healthy people I know drink a cup of green tea after dinner and sometimes throughout the day.
I've drank coffee all through my weightloss and haven't noticed a difference. I use little bit of creamer and sweetner. I've lost 21 pounds and 3 sizes.
If you like splenda, you may want to try stevia. it's a bit pricier (i get a box of 100 packets for about 5 bucks) but it's really sweet, no aftertaste, and it's natural. You can get it at GNC or nutrition stores, and it's listed as a dietary supplement, not a sweetener (although one packet sweetens like 2 teaspoons sugar). It's really good, you should give it a run (0 calories, by the way). It's a green packet usually in a blue box. :)
