quitting soda right now!!!

I have to stop drinking diet dr. pepper (my favorite) ... I'm addicted and everytime I drink a soda (always diet) I follow it up with something sweet.  I've read quite a few articles on the science of this and all of the harmful chemicals, so I'm stopping cold turkey... 20 hours down.  *slight headache*  I drink it in the morning instead of coffee, so this morning has been a big test.  I usually drink 2-3 a day.  Has anyone else recently stopped or planning to?

Good for you to noticing how diet dr pepper can effect your eating habits and made adjustments to correct it!  I was a regualr coke fan and it wasn't so bad, this time to stop.  I did get a headaches and just took some pain releavers and was fine.  Hang in there your body will adjust.
Well, I think that the sweet flavour makes us more likely to crave more sweet things, which might have been the problem.

I try really hard not to drink soda, and since I was never a big soda drinker in the first place, it's not so bad. But every now and again I get a craving. I like to drink Sprite Zero when those times come about.

Your headaches are probably from caffiene withdrawls. Take some ibprophen (advil) and that should help.
Soda was one of my biggest problems. Mainly Pepsi. I haven't had it in over a year and I really don't crave it anymore. The first few weeks are hard but you get used to not having it. I just recently stopped drinking coffee, it's hard but once you stop you feel good that you did.

Good luck! =)
I tried drinking a pepsi after i stopped drinking them a month ago, they taste really salty to me now.. I can barely drink them. I guess its completely out of my diet now for good!
I cut out diet pop too and coffee, and I really feel better.  Water seems to fill me up more and I don't crave "bad" food as much anymore (occasionally during that time of the month).  I had the headache in the beginning too, but it goes away and you'll find you feel all around better.

Keep it up.
Good for you!  Hang in there & stick with it.  If you have it again later after enough time off, you'd be surprised how different & odd it might make you feel.  Most likely worse than the way you feel now trying to break the habit.  You're doing a good thing.  :)
Has anyone seen a change in weightloss after giving up diet soda?

I'm sure cutting out sugar cravings will be a major contributor!
meeulk, from giving up soda I have seen a change in weightloss, but I drank A LOT of it. Three weeks without it I was down about 5lbs.  However it's not the main reason I lost weight, but in the beginning it helped.
I am always hungry when i drink a diet soda, much more than when i drink a regular one...but i'm trying very hard to give all of them up and just drink water or caffiene free tea...darn it , it's hard but worth it in the end! The headache too will pass, as will most of the cravings...i still have a craving every now and then, but when i drink one it doesn't taste as good as it used to. Good luck!!!
I gave up soda a year ago. I was drinking 5-6 cans a day.  Major headaches followed but it got better. I lost weight and actually started exercising and it was wonderful.  Now when I have soda it's for very special occasions and I defiently notice a difference, i.e. I don't want good for you food and I tend to get a little crankier.  Keep up the good work!  You can do it!

I had never though of it, but I usually havea Diet Coke with cookies or any other kind of sweet. I'm Coke Addict I must said, I gave up Coke 2 years ago and turn to Diet which I though it was a better "healthier" option, but everyone keeps telling me how the chemicals in it are so bad.

Right now I want to gave up on Diet Coke too, but with this damn hot summer I dunno if I could, take in mind that I drink at least 1lt a day :(
