quorn
throughout my weight gain ive been eating alot of quorn i think part of it is because ive felt safe with it and there no juice or bone or fat like meat. what do people think of quorn ?is it as good or as filling as meat ?should i be challenging myself with other things . i think i may be bored with some of the foods im eating im worried this may cause me to slip back
I did this with Boca burgers, vegan, low calorie, high protein meat substitutes. Yes you should be challenging yourself because your body wants to experiment with things. Try having half and half, half quorn and a little bit of chicken or beef, etc. You do need to expand, especially since you're bored.
My recommendation is to find the nearest place that makes stuff from scratch and get a brown rice cooked shrimp california roll! I don't know if you have Whole Foods out there - try there. Holy crap it is tasty! Best food ever:-)
I think it would be good to move out of your safety zone and try something else. I never really saw the appeal of Quorn, I can understand if your a vegetarian but if not then Id much rather eat some meat instead, Quorn doesnt really have a lot of protein in it.
I struggle a little when it comes to things such as red meat but have you thought of trying chicken? To start if slow just try putting it in sandwiches and then build up to eating a dinner with chicken in it, theres lots of things you can do with it. What about expanding your fish from just cod, trying maybe some shellfish for a change?
If you feel up to it give the red meat a go, I eat the extra lean stuff, you can get it in Tesco/Sainsburys, I know a lot of people will disagree a say to eat the normal regular type but I find red meats a struggle to eat so this makes it a little easier. It tastes really good made in a bolognese.
Go for it, you`ll never know if you like these things till you try them ![]()
since you're asking then you must not be opposed to actually eating meat...so i would say limit yourself to quorn for only one meal. sticking to "safe" foods keeps the ED alive...so challenge yourself to eat a hamburger patty or a real chicken breast or something. or even a sausage.
eating quorn isn't bad but the fact that it's a safe food for you isn't helping you to get better mentally. also, you have many nutrients to gain by eating meat products again if you're not a vegetarian (which i assume you're not)..iron, B vitamins, protein, and fats.
thanks everyone , i think you are right chrissy iv e answered my own question . im gonna start tomorrow with perhaps a piece of chicken see how i go from there. betty my mum buys that extra lean mince so i could try that bethany ive never heard of shrimp calaforna roll sounds yummy though h x
I LOVE QUORN!!!
I eat quite alot of quorn in the form of sausages and burgers when the rest of my family eat the real things.
I can't bring myself to eat real burgers and sausages although of course deep down I know I should do. ED voice wins out every time with this issue I'm afraid.
I do eat chicken, ham and alot of fish so I get proteins from them. But for me quorn is a good substitute for the unsafe foods like burgers and sausages.
I know it's naughty for me to give into ED like this, but for the moment I feel happier and safer. My husband frowns at me every time I have my quorn, though, and makes me feel like a naughty school girl!

thats exactly how i feel
I eat alot of quorn also, but mainly the cottage pie and the “ham slices”, due to being a vegetarian. It has a hell of a lot of protein which is always good.
As said above though, if you are eating it because you want to replace real meat due to ED feelings then this of course is not good. Mix up between the two, start small and go from there. Relying on certain foods becomes so easy when the ED tells you its okay, deliberately oppose it.

That is so right in my case, lovelife.
Just wish my ED voice would shut up for good, but I'm fighting it all the way!
