Hi fellow runners!
I'm interested to know what races everyone is running this year. I'll be doing the Indianapolis Mini Marathon in May, and the Marine Corps Marathon in November if all goes well.
I think I would have to run a marathon on Thanksgiving in order to make up for all that I eat that day! But, I'll probably just run a 5K...
Up here we have a turkey trot 5k on thanksgiving morning. It's enough to not feel guilty about 1 slice of pie.
I ran my marathon last weekend, not the greatest time but I did give 100% that day so a PR just wasn't in the cards. I don't have any major races planned until next spring, just some short 5k's. In my off season I'm going to work on dropping 10-15 pounds and my speed.
Good luck rasmom.

Hahaha! So true. I found out some disappointing news - the 10k I wanted to run on Oct. 25th sold out before I was sure I could afford it. So it looks like I won't be doing that one. I'm still training though, because I want to do the 10k Turkey Trot in November. Now I just have more time to get ready for it!

Congratulations on your marathon!
I have mine coming up on the 11th, I was hoping to qualify for Boston but it has become clear to me looking at my time and the prediction charts that it just isn't going to happen. But, like you, I plan to give it 100% and except what is in the cards. I am really looking forward to it! No matter what, it is a great accomplishment.
Embracing, I tell people that Boston is part of my 10 year plan. I'm still about 40 min off of qualifying. I'm loving the journey along the way, every marathon I learn something new to try for the next one. Good luck and enjoy the race.
My marathon was on Sunday. And - I QUALIFIED! I am still feeling on the top of the world. I needed 4:05:59 to qualify and I came in at 4:03:06. My personal best. I was ecstatic. I felt good the whole way, the weather was perfect and the running Gods were shining down on me.
Having 30 lbs less to carry around with me has made a world of difference.
Congrats embracing on a race well run! How exciting to qualify for BOSTON!! You must be so psyched. As I think you know, I completed my first marathon this past weekend with a time of 4:33:55. My goal was 4:30 so I was pretty pleased all things considered. I only fell behind my pace group during the last couple of miles of the race - which were a bit hillier than I expected. Can't wait to sign up for my next marathon!!!
Congrats again!!!!!!!!!
WTG embracing!!!! YOU ARE A ROCK STAR!!!!!!
Awesome job Rasmom, great job staying with your pacer. The last 2-3 miles are the hardest to stay with your pacer. Now you are hooked on running.....stick with it!!
I'm running the Baystate Marathon this sunday, first marathon in 14 years. Hoping just to break 4 hours, especially considering the weather may be nasty.
Good Luck on Sunday. Have a great run - my fingers are crossed for perfect weather conditions. Enjoy!
Finished in 3hrs, 59min and 15 sec. Started raining about the 7 mile mark and temps were about 40 degrees. Didn't stop shivering for a long time after I finished.
