A RADICAL way of eating

Quote  |  Reply

None of us have gotten into the shape we are into overnight.  Weight loss and changing our shape will also take time, but also a new way of thinking.  Some people have considered a Gastric Bypass, which is a radical procedure and will be followed by a RADICAL way of eating.  What would happen if we ate now the way one would eat post-operatively.  If it is difficult to stick with a diet now, let me tell you it is life threatening if you do not stick to the diet post-op.  As an RN I have seen these cases.  I want to encourage you and offer a few ideas for reading, you may get these books on Amazon.com like I did.  Engine 2 Diet (at least this one if no other), This Crazy Vegan Life, The Accidental Vegan.  If you really want to see changes in your health and the way you look and feel, you should give this a try.  The way Americans have eaten for the last 100 years is crazy and leading to obesity and cardiac disease, diabetes, etc....  it is possible to enjoy eating, not STOP eating, but by eating correctly to regain health.  When you have MUCH weight to lose, you must consider reducing the CALORIES (particularly the FAT calories, and if you choose the right foods this does not mean reducing the AMOUNT of food you eat!! ) in order to attain success.  This only makes sense.  Remember that regular exercise, as well, will boost your metabolism and endorphins.

Hello Swayne,

Thank you for your lovely post. It has inspired me to attempt to locate, acquire, and then read the books you have mentioned.

It's funny how one can loss their way - even after more than twenty years of being a vegan.

Thank you again for the nudge in the correct direction.

Peace,

Eric

I am so happy that I stumbled on your exchange. It is great to see people "nudging" and being open to being "nudged". Best of luck to both of you. I am lucky becuase I had pregnancy to excuse my excesses (yes, it IS possible to be an excessive vegan- all that vegan processed junk out there can make you fat and miserable- you think the big food corporations havn't jumped on the bandwagon? okay- i am not going off on a conspiracy theory rant) anyway. just loved reading your exchange and thought i'd let you know...

Love and light- Allison
