asking for a raise

Eaaakkkkk I'm about to ask for a raise...so nervous...the boss already know's i'm asking. I've been giving a lot more responsibilities here at work so I think I deserve one....wish me luck!!! It would definitely help my family out if I get what I'm asking for. 

Good luck!  And remember, the extra work they're giving you with a raise is far cheaper then having to hire an additional person to do those duties.

do you have a copy of the job description you were hired under, so that you can point to all the extra responsibilities?

no i wish I did, it's a real laid back company..nothing in writing..i can probably tell him what I want and he say okay...he's on the phone...waiting sucks 

Amy,  good luck with the asking.  I agree that a job description would have been great to have, but even without it, make sure you highlight the extra contributions and work load you have taken on.  Showcase your talents and continuing support to the firm. Good luck

Thank's for the replies, I got a 12.5% increase...and we'll look again in July for hopefully the same increase or more....yay.  Every little bit helps right now.

Congratulations...... I know,  that raise thing......I always agonize over it.  It is funny, how some people (both of my son in laws) have absolutely no problem in stating their worth and expectations to their employers.  I chalked it up to a guy thing  but that is probably because I am a coward in that area.
