i was just wondering, after having a bit too much to drink, is it normal for your heart to be beating faster??

i got to  bed having been out at one this morning and when i woke up at 11 my heart was racing! also, i got up and nearly passed out (v. light head, blurred vision)

i just want some confirmation whether this is normal/not, im not used to drinking so i really dont know!

thankyou

I have never heard of your heart rate going up after a night of drinking but I can confirm that one will lose a lot of white blood cells.  Alcohol, unless in moderation, is simply not good for you.  Hope this helps.

Alcohol and heart rate? Hm. Well, it's been a long time since I last drank, but I still remember I'd always get a lot warmer and flushed after a drink or too. However: i got up and nearly passed out (v. light head, blurred vision)... replace your fluids and electrolytes! Alcohol dehydrates you like mad. It's a little while on now, I know, but drink plenty of water and have a banana or have some potatoes later. Both are potassium rich.

Lastly, if you're not used to drinking, you're bound to feel a bit fuzzy today. :] Hope you had fun last night and happy new year!

Don't know if it's *normal,* but my heart always races the next day after a good booze bender, especially when I first wake up or get up to use the restroom.  So at least you're not the only one.

I've had that! and I usually have the shakes with it! I can wake with a start also...

It's usually when I've had WAY WAY WAAAAY too much alcohol than is reccommended... nd seeing as it was new years I'm guessing that is the case here... it's never affected me after the hang over but I wouldn't make a habit of drinking that much!!!!!

I think there is something called night terrors or sleep terrors or soemthing that has similar side effects when drinking alcohol...

This happens to me all the time when I drink alcohol.

I'll wake up in the middle of the night (well more like morning) to get a drink of water, and I'll notice my heart pounding in my chest. It literally feels like I'm about to have a heart attack. It's scary.
