Ran my first marathon (Montreal's oasis marathon)

Quote  |  Reply

So hum I feel really proud of myself, having ran my first marathon ever, after losing close to 44kgs (100pounds). This is the way I had of always remembering my success. Thanks for the support everyone, for those curious amongst you, I didn't finish first... finished in 3:49:48 though which is pretty fast (for a 200 pounds guy).

At least I can rest now, knowing that in my weight category I was probably the fastest lol (everyone was like 80-120 pounds lol)

Great work!

OMG CONGRATULATIONS!!! I would be bouncing off the walls if I were you!!! How did it go? Any mental blocks or particularly tough miles? I ask because I'm doing my first marathon on Oct. 25th. I'm really excited but understandably nervous as well.

And your time is actually right near my goal time...I'm aiming for 3:50. We'll see - I don't want to get too caught up in my goal time, but I would be so excited if I actually made it.

Anyway, I'm very very happy for you. ANd it's incredible you lost 100lbs!!! Great job :) :)

Congrats on your Marathon (always a capitol letter on Marathon!) I too have run a Marathon (a turning 50 present to myself) and there is nothing like that moment when you cross the line. Such a great feeling of accomplishment and pride in one's self after months of hard work, VERY emotional. Double for you because of such a great weight loss. Again be proud and tell everyone who will listen(and even if they won't).   jcl76 remember THE REAL RACE STARTS AT 20 MILES---good luck!!!

...You Da Man!

Get used to hearing that from family and friends...that's what anyone who achieves what you have so far should be told.

Congratulations...nothing like having a Marathon medal to add to your health resume...awesome.

Congratulations! What an amazing accomplishment! And what a fantastic time!

I'm running in my first half in Nov and hope to finish that in 2:45:00 - you run circles around me!!

Can't wait to see the post for your SECOND Marathon ;)

Thanks guys! Here's how it went.

It started at 9am, the temperature was perfect. there was 15000 people and everyone was happy... Since I had spent 9 days prior to the event doing close to no exercise I was completely ready and rested. The first 20 miles were easy compared to the last 6 that felt like some sort of hellish nightmare. I have had one of the best time of my life. It was pure elation when I crossed the finish line and got my medal!

Love.

Great Accomplishment. Once we get our weight down maintenance means a new life style and exercise is critical. Whether running, swimming, working out at the gym, keep up the good work.!!!!

That's amazing!!!  I just finished my first half marathon two days ago and there's nothing like that feeling when you cross that finish line, double for you!

Congratulations!!!  And Daizymae, you'll do great!!! Good luck in October!

Félicitations!

Congratulations and thank you for your post!

I am participating in the Disneyworld 1/2 marathon in January and am excited but apprehensive as well.  I am not a "natural runner", so just making it across the finish line will feel great!

Wow --that's impressive - on both major accomplishments! Congratulations and you're an inspiration...I'm currently training for my first half in Nov and there's this teensy tiny voice in the back of my head occasionally that is considering a full one in the future...I think your post helped that voice get a little louder!
