I just ran my first 10 minute mile
I've been "getting in shape" since I was 16 years old. Now I'm 18 and a half. I've been running on the elliptial, I tried to run outside and on the treadmill but I just could NOT do it. Lately I've been pushing myself extra to actually run and I did it! 1 mile in 10 minutes!! Now my next goal - 2 miles in 20 minutes :)
Wish me luck!
Congrants - what a great feeling!
I remember when I did that and I was shocked I could actually do it. Now because of the darn cold weather I'm slower than ever. Speaking of, time for me to stop putzing on here and go run :)
Great job~! I remember when I first started running it was because I was made to from soccer. My best two-mile was 27 minutes that year, but the next year I had reduced it to 18 minutes =] It just goes to show how even a little bit of work can make a huge impact.
You can definitely do it, just slowly build up how long you run and you'll get there in no time =] Run through the pain, run through it!!
Actually a trick that I always use to kind of change my mindset while I'm running, even if my body hurts and my breath is labored, I just keep thinking to myself "This feels great! I'm so glad I'm running" and just all this positive stuff. Eventually you trick your mind into going farther and faster than before. I ran my first 3 mile by doing it and I didn't stop once like I expected myself to =]
that is really great! congrats & good luck on your 2 mile run! :D
I have NEVER done this. I was behind smokers in high school! So CONGRATS!!!! I am amazed!
Congrats on your 10 minute mile. I hope you keep on pushing yourself into the 5k run. You are doing a great job. Keep up the great work.
congrats! that's awesome! i know how you feel about running--its so boring! something that helps me is to keep my route windy and not run in a straight line for too long. then you don't feel like you've run as far...keep up the hard work!
I'm on a roll! Today I ran my first consecutive 2 miles without stopping. 21:30!! Not bad!! Pretty soon I'll make the 20:00 mark no problem and I can add that third mile and go for the 5k! I'm so excited - I've been trying to do this for years and never really put the effort forth. Now that I have I can finally do it! If I can do this I can motivate myself to lose those 20 lbs I have to lose and finally be the tiny girl on the outside I've always been on the inside.
