I ran a 1/2 mile!

I know its not a lot, but its the farthest I've ever run without stopping. (and I even sprinted another lap b/c I was so excited) I just bought a new pair of running shoes and I wanted to try them out.  I think they work great :) Now I feel like I might really be able to run that 5K I have planned in April. Thanks to the C25K plan I am finally becoming a RUNNER!!!

thats awesome!  Congrats!!!!  OMG! I remember the first mile I ran, I kept wanting to stop but neeners, another member here, pushed me so I wouldnt stop!   I did that at the end of last April and ran my first 5k in August.

WELCOME TO THE RUNNING CLUB!
Congrats!! Running is really high intensity, and half a mile IS a lot when you're not used to running. So three cheers and use your success to keep you motivated!
Congrats!!

That's great!!  I'm just getting back into running too.  I really have started to enjoy it because I feel like it's an activity that has such great rewards.  I love looking back after a run and saying, "Wow, I just ran 2 miles (or whatever distance)".  A couple of months ago, I was doing one lap around the lake that I live near.  It's nice to see my progression.  Keep with it!  Congratulations again on your success!
Congratulations, Pygirl! That is a great accomplishment. It takes a lot to run a distance without stopping when you're just getting into it! Just keep trying and before you know it, you will be finishing a 5K without stopping! Each time you run, try to tack on another minute or two or strive for another tenth of a mile or so. It is such a great feeling to see your progress, not to mention the fabulous sculpting and fat burning it does for your body!

I am a beginning runner, too, and finally last year, I ran in about 6 5Ks and 2 4-milers. I can finally run 4.5 miles w/out stopping and to me that is a marathon! My goal is to run a 10K this year, then maybe a 1-2 marathon in the near future. I have a friend that just qualified for the Boston marathon- talk about a role model!!

Congrats to you, too, sebsmom!

Keep us posted w/your progress!!
Bologna 1/2 a mile isn't a big deal!

Congrats! :) You'll be running a 5K before you know it! :)
That is great.    You ROCK!!!
YOU ROCK, GIRLFRIEND!  Keep it up and slappy will have you doing 5Ks and 10Ks.

slappy...has it really been since last April?  Wow...I need to come back and visit and take you around the lake 2x....or better yet, up that hill, running! lol
sounds good Neeners!  No way you will get me on that hill right now! LOL can you imagine how slick it is?

hk- dont you remember the first time you ran 1/2 mile?

 dude, come on.
slappy...they make these cool things called ice joggers that you put on your shoes.  They're spikes that help grip so you can run.  They are necessary around here this time of year...well, for outdoor running.
awesome!  I may need those for the run in March! or at least training for it!
Congrats on the 1/2 mile!  wow that's awesome!
HURRAY for you!!!!

I absolutely adore running, and I remember when I discovered it several years ago. The first time I did a lap in NYC's Central Park around the Resevoir I almost lost my lunch! (sorry, but it's true!)

Now I am an avid runner and I love the mental and physical challenge of it. You go! Great job. Keep with it. Running is tons of fun, motivating, and a really great way to tune the world out for a bit and just focus on you! :-)
Thanks everybody for the support! Its great motivation to know that you are all here cheering me on!
keep it up!  and keep us updated!

Congratulations! I've been trying to start running, but can't go more than 2 minutes yet ( I know, this is pathetic).

Keep it up!
Congrats and keep with it...I started running in November and can now run 2 miles..well let's call it a jog.  My friend that always runs lapped me the other day...but I am so proud of myself and you should be proud too.

It gets easier add a  little at a time and listen to your body you may have to walk a little in between.

You should be proud!
Awesome job!  As was said previously, running IS very high intensity, so you should be proud of your accomplishment.  Keep it up!
Congratulations!!! that's where I started, and I have worked myself up to 8-11 miles :-) Good luck with your running! it's definitely worth it
