random bump up?

Quote  |  Reply
I know that I'm probably overreacting...but it really bothered me this morning when the scale said I'd gone UP 1.2 lb! It's probably water weight (I hope) cause I"ve been sticking to a 1500 cal/day limit and eating healthy and feeling full (lots of lean protein, veggies, fruits, whole grains).

ARRGHHHHH. I don't like the fact that I bumped up, it makes me want to cut cals more, and I know that's not a good idea! Any ideas on what happened/what to do??

hehe, you are over reacting a little, its only a little over a pound, give it a few days and reweigh yourself and see if youre back down again

how often are you weighing yourself? maybe you'd not feel so irratic about it if you didnt weigh yourself so often?

keep sticking to your limits and being healthy..we all have our ups and downs..you sounds like youre doing really well xx

Yeah, i know i'm overreacting, but it's annoying! I think you're right - I'm weighing myself every day, and that's wayyyy too often...

but still..

It must be water weight.

I sometimes go up/down for 3-4 pounds and my measures are still the same (which is good in my case). And one pound really isn't that much. I lose that much sweat easily in one night if I'm having a nightmareTongue out

Just don't forget health > winning on a championship!

I think you chose a wonderful sport and wish you all the best of luck, but you better be fit and healthy than skinny and get knocked out in a lighter category.

Check out this article, and don't let those little bumps get you down -- they are nothing in the grand scheme of things
Coach_k, thanks for the article! I knew the stuff about drinking more water and sodium, but I didn't know the rest of it!

And tinkole - you're right about health>championship (even if it's the pan-ams). I don't want to be one of those stick skinny girls who can't do push ups or anything else - I want to be healthy and muscular. And I'm trying really hard to listen to my body. If I'm hungry, I eat. And well. If I find that my body is really resisting the weight loss, I'll stop, because I am healthy the way I am. I'm going to give the lighter weight category a try, but if it doesn't work, so be it!
i think i gain the day after i eat alot of bread/carbs. supposedly they make you puffy. but i wouldn't worry about it. carbs, water, whatever--your weight will go back down in a couple of days.

My weight varies by five pounds on a daily basis. It has to do with sodium and water intake. Nothing to worry about.
I know it's nothing to worry about, but it's bothering me cause I bumped up AGAIN today! This is less worry about losing it, more worry about what I'm going to wear tonight lol!
