My brother did some severe damage to his metabolism in highschool from wrestling (he was 5'10 and his wrestling weight was 145, which he SHOULD NOT have been because his normal weight is 180) well when he went to college he gained a good 60lbs, he's lucky that he carries his weight well but he definitely looked chunky. Recently he decided to lose some weight and he managed to lose 40lbs in 2.5 months! When i asked him what he's been doing all he said was..i stopped drinking beer during the week and started walking to work. ugh, although im so proud, i wish it was that easy for me. Weight seems to come off men so much faster! oh wellllll
good for him sucky for us
Ugh i know your pain,
My hubby has dropped 2 stone in the last 3 months just be cutting back the junk (note i say cutting back not cutting out), while 'ive been working my ass off in the gym 5 day a week and seriously cleaning up and cuting back my diet ... i count everything and hardly ever cheat, and i've only dropped about 6lb's ...
He really doens't help the situation though spends half his life complaining because im eating like a freak (dieting the proper way) and won't eat 4 pizza's and drink beer (im currently classed as a party pooper)
then he wonders why i get annoyed when he says "oooh ive just wieghed myself i've lost another 4lbs" ... then proceeds to drink his wiehgt in beer .... grrr ...... or when he suggested that i don't need to be so strict with myself because he's losing wieght just fine why don't i do what he's doing .... grrrr ...like DUH im sure eating the rubbish he's eating over the good food im eating is infact the reason im not losing wieght fast... gah !!!
haha funny that you mention the party pooper thing, i make sure i'm in bed by 11 so i can do my 5am workout and I'm called a party pooper because i won't stay up to watch late night with my boyfriend. what a party!
Go to bed at 11 to wake up at 5? Jeeze! I have to be in bed by 10 and I still can barely get up at 5:30 haha. I wish I could function on that little sleep!
I'm lucky, my boyfriend likes to go to bed early too :]
My husband is really thin and fit, but he has to watch his cholesterol and blood pressure. BUT when we were younger, he could eat an entire bag of chips (the 8 oz size!!) and then go to bed, and his body would just radiate heat like a heater. It was AWESOME in the winter!! He's too health conscious to do that now, but I remember thinking, "wow, he's like an engine: put in the fuel and watch it burn!!"
He really does not understand why I haven't lost all the weight I put on 10 years ago when pregnant--um, because I have to make an effort, unlike YOU whose body just does it for him!! Well now I'm making tha effort and feeling good about it, but he will never have any understanding of the fact that he simply does not have to worry about weight gain b/c of the way his body metabolizes food.
I do, occasionally, remind him that in a famine, he would be the first to go! wow, that does not sound so funny when I write it down. Sorry.
If it makes you ladies feel any better, they loose that ability in their thirties. By the time they hit 40 the start having to diet like us and most have no idea of how to do it.
well im male i've only lost about 16 pounds in 2 months I think thats slow. But I haven't been so strict with myself. I'm in love with cookies again ^_^

Bah i'd kill to lost 16lbs in 2 months .... GRRR men!!! and i HAVE been strict... bah humbug .. MEN!!!
My husband is an anomaly. He has an incredibly difficult time losing weight; always has. Even boot camp couldn't get him down to the weight the Marine Corps would stop calling him "over weight" at.
I think I lose weight easier than him without trying at all. Which is why, when he comes home, I'll be helping him figure out exactly what he needs to do to lose the weight. =)
Ever see that commercial where a cartoon woman rants about her husband cutting out stuff and losing like 10 pounds to her none? Yeah.
It sucks because men have naturally higher metabolisms, hence have the greater capacity to lose weight. That's why men usually win The Biggest Loser.
i hear ya. my bf just cuts out his extra frozen pizza once or twice a week, and he drops 10 lbs. just like that! ugh... and i have to work soooo hard to lose that much.
I know exactly what everyone is saying.
I have been dieting and exercising (a lot, lifting weights, lots of walks, strength training and aerobics) for 6 month and lost 30 pounds.
My boyfriend, he has lost 30 pounds in only about 2 1/2 months without hardly exercising (just going for walks with me) and cutting out some junk food.
I am so proud of the both of us, but it is sort of frustrating that he can lose weight so fast, without 1/4 of the effort.
