Rapid Weight Loss?!?

Quote  |  Reply

I have never really posted on this fourm but I wanted to ask a question: is losing 36lbs in less than 4 months really rapid? i recently had a check up at the doctor and shes concerned that i may have an eating disorder. and at this point its extremely hard for me to eat at all, and when i do it's hard to keep it down. I was wondering if anyone else is having those issues or have any advice on how to eat more. i currently eat anywhere from 500-1300(on a good day) daily. any adivce is helpful

I've been told healthy weight loss is 1-2lbs per week which in four months just using 4 weeks a month would be 32lbs if you lost 2 a week.

I'd be more worried about only eating 500 calories a day....on this site I read women should not eat less than 1200 a day

No matter how much weight you lose per week, it is unhealthy if you aren't doing it through proper diet and exercise. From what you've mentioned, it does sound as though you at the very least could have the beginning of a disorder, especially if your physician mentioned something. I would really recommend that you ask your doctor to refer you to a therapist so you can sort out this unhealthy relationship with food. Best wishes and take care!

I probably lost that much in that amount of time, and I had eating problems when I was at my worst.  It was difficult for me to eat most meals, and when I did eat I could only eat very little.  I've managled to wrangle it to where I still eat small portions (which is a good thing to be able to do when dieting!) but I do eat enough.  I think you just need to watch yourself and make sure that you're eating enough to remain healthy.  If you go too far, it does become an eating disorder.  And let me tell you, people notice when you don't eat enough.  I couldn't get my friends off my back!
