At the rate that I'm going...

Quote  |  Reply

Okay, well this is for anyone who could give me some advice... I've recently lost a good 4-5kg... as a result to a tremendous amount of exercise (6 times a week) and a restricted diet. However, I'm starting to feer that enough is too much. At the rate that I'm going, it seems that I keep losing weight, and although it happens very very very VERY slowly (lost 5 kg in 7 months), I feel that it's still happening.

So, at the rate that I'm going (if I don't do something soon), it could mean that I'll pretty much just keep going down. Is there no chance that I'll just balance it out? Maintain it somehow? And if so... how?

Congratulations :)

And about it balancing out...I'm not completely sure what you mean, but I'll try to give you an answer.

Keeping a routine like that is healthy, but also vigorous. I don't know what your weight is, or how much more you were planning on losing, or if your goal is gaining muscle and losing fat, but I do know that the only way you will reach a place where you are maintaining a specific weight is when the number of calories you eat equal the number you burn. (but you probably already knew this...)

Right now it sounds like you are burning more than taking in, so at this rate you will keep losing.

So once you reach a weight or fitness level your happy with, loosen up a little. A little. By this I mean you can maintain the weight by bumping up your calorie intake slightly, OR cutting back on the exercise. Remember, once you reach your goal, you can get out of lose-weight-diet mode, and just live a healthy life.

I know this was realllllllllly long, but hopefully helpful?

Very helpful, cairolily. Thank you.

I was just a little concerned with the fact that I might be underweight if I keep pushing so hard. I'm scared that if I do slack off, that I'll lose control completely. Just to let you know (if you're interested), I weigh 50kg (currently), and although my weight does fluctuate a lot (depending on the time of the day and the day of the month), I presume that I've been 49kg before.

My original weight (before I started this routine) used to be 54-55kg. So you can see what I mean.

But thank you. :) I need to find something that I'm comfortable with so as to maintain my weight. That makes a lot of sense.
