what would you rather get as a wedding favor

would you rather get something edible (ex- cupcake) or something like, a candy dish, etc..? Just was wondering what you, as a guest, would prefer when going to a wedding (trying to get ideas!)

thanks!

I don't really expect favors from weddings... I usually just like to look at the photos afterward.  :)

I had a fall wedding so I had mini chocolate and vanilla cupcakes made with an orange leaf chocolate on top...it was adorable and everyone loved them.

I think people hate bringing things home with them and feel bad not bringing it home if they choose to leave it behind.

Just have to think of the people with allergies...

edible, like chocolate or candies, but something little in a nice box or something :)

like chantale said keep people with allergies in consideration!

I have a peanut allergy and when I was little I always had to turn down cake and party favours at birthday parties. I was sad at first, I've gotten used to it and don't mind, but its nice when you get to eat it too!

Like Purespark, I don't expect favors at weddings. The fact that the couple is providing a meal, cake, and a party is enough, IMO - not that any of that's expected either.  I'm there to share in the couple's day, and wish them well on their start.  And, not to sound crass or anything, I don't need another knick knack to dust.

That being said, as a guest at a wedding, one of the better favors I received was a small 4 pc box of Godiva chocolates, and another where it was a very pretty tin with a selection of individual coffees and teas.

I agree. I'd go with something small/edible if you choose to give something though.

 Congradulations!

i agree with meagan, don't expect anything. Although when a friend of mine got married she made little lace parcels with a few sugared almonds in them.

Something edible is best, because otherwise it's something you're expected to keep, dust and maintain, even if you don't need it.

i also think it is a small detail, that not all notice  (i think it adds and can be charming).

good luck with all the planning/prepping - i remember that taking time and thought for my sisters wedding.  guess thats why people get coordinators?

fresh flowers.

Hi.  We were married a few months ago and had lots of people travel to our wedding so we bought everyone a silver luggage tag - they were a big hit.

Enjoy your wedding, its the best day of you life

When my sister got married she had a simple sugar cookie in the shape of a wedding cake with there initials on it they were a huge hit and really yummy

We had our reception at our house via a BBQ and we put out assorted candy in tiered dishes and had little boxes along with it that people could pack their own favorites in. People liked this idea a lot because they only had to take the ones they really liked and if they didn't want candy they didn't take any.

One of my friends is thinking about donating money in each person's name and putting all of the info in a really nice card.  I thought that was a nice idea.

My brother and sister-in-law made a CD of their favorite songs and had them printed with a cute picture of themselves (as bobble heads) for the cover.  They had pretty ribbons tied on them and I thought that was a great idea.

Also, you could have a table with jars of candy and baggies so that people could dish up their own bags!

I have a good friend who is a survivor of Lukemia and she made a donation to the camp she went to for cancer survivors when she was younger.  I also have a friend getting married in Sept. whose father passed away in April of cancer and she is also making a donation.  They just put little cards at each place setting that read "instead of favors we have donated to....."  It was really nice.

For my wedding I had bookmarks made with a special verse, our names, and dates.  I figured they were something special that people could use in their favorite book or keep in their bible and didn't have to worry about putting it in a shelf.

Oh! My other friend who just got married did m&ms and she somehow was able to put pictures of her and her new husband on them.  They were very cool!

Tickets for the bar.  So, pretty much like most others, I'd prefer consumables.

thanks for the input all!

We went to a wedding where they had nippy bottles of alcohol with a ribbon stating the bride and groom names and the date.  They had little boxes, I think people took about 4 apiece. It was definitely different.  We still have our nippy bottles out on the bar.

Ice cream cake. Who would turn that down? :) Good Luck!
