I ratted my boss out to HR
I'm feeling free, confident, scared and nervous all at the same time. I should have done it months ago.
I don't know what he/she did...but GOOD FOR YOU!!
for what??
i'm sure it was deserved...but details details!
Oy. I hope it works out. I did that in my last position and it led to 1 year of pure hell.
did he/she steal your stapler?
I really don't think it is fair to only give us this teaser. We want to know what happened. Either way, you go girl!!!
leaps on table raising fist in a moment of solidarity
what's the skinny Norma Rae Mooni?
Got sick of rescuing birds for her?
He's the worst boss I've ever had. He is a bully. He doesn't remember what he tells you to do and then yells at your for doing it his way. He changes how you're supposed to do something after you've done it and it's still your fault. He goes around cussing out loud all the time. He constantly threatens to "fill your chair". We have nicknamed him The Great Demotivator.
Earlier this year I found all kinds of sensitive personnel data on the shared drive. I was looking for something else and stumbled upon it. A couple of months ago I showed another coworker. Today I showed another. She went ballistic and called HR. I then emailed the evidence to HR. Then I told HR I needed to schedule an appointment because I couldn't take any more.
I was almost shaking when they called me in. I had to speak with head of HR and my boss's boss. They were shocked at all the details I had about his behavior.

That's funny. That stupid woman could never get to be a boss. She can't even get hired on permanently.
Good for you!

Good for you Moons. Stay calm and be ready to deal with the asswipe straight on if he decides to confront you.
HR took care of that one immediately. Within an hour of it being reported to HR we had a departmental meeting with HR, the boss and the boss's boss. The big boss apologized to us and explained that they were going to track the documents to make sure none had been downloaded to anyone's hard drive. The boss had a very timid sheepish look on his face.
By the way the A-hole is an exmarine who thinks he's still a marine.
good for you mooni!! sounds like your coworkers will have your back when it comes down to it.

Wow, if this guy violated HIPAA Rules, they (HR) will have a fit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If they don't fire him, fine him, or dock his pay. Violating HIPAA rules is HUGE.
if he were a good one, he'd still be in the Corps.
Kick ass, mooni. That's the same thing my evil boss used to do. Yelling, threatening, lying, scolding me in front of others, giving me the silent treatment. All this even though I was doing an exceptional job.
Unfortunately, the person in HR who took over the investigation also happened to be my boss' supervisor. Of course they weren't going to find a problem - that would mean they had also failed in their job. I hope in your case they fire his sorry butt.
I kept silent far too long. It has affected my health and happiness. I was/am worried about being fired or downsized, but even the thought of that is not so bad anymore. My house finally sold so now I can take a paycut and still survive.
Even if he isn't fired, I don't think he'll be on the fast track for promotion anymore.
If it makes you feel any better, I think you did the right thing. It is not right for anyone to work in an environment they don't feel safe in. I hope everything goes well for you, and the boss gets the can!
Edit: double post, I have no idea how that happened.
